giving is for everyone 💙

That was the theme of our dinner this year, and honestly it’s what this whole program is built on. Every young person has time, talent, and treasure to give, and every young person deserves the chance to find that out for themselves.

Through our partnership with the University of Cincinnati’s IDD Education Center, young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have been taking part in our Youth Philanthropy Program. They’re exploring causes they care about, getting to know local nonprofits, and seeing what it feels like to give back to their community. We made a short video to share their story, and we couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out.

Josiah, one of the young adults featured in the video, joined us at the dinner along with folks from UC’s IDD Education Center. He and our founder, Roger Grein, bonded over the fact that they both live with cerebral palsy, and this photo pretty much says it all. 🥹

a little thank-you note to our friends at Sew4Service 🧵💙

At our Northeast Ohio Youth Leadership & Service Conference last month, Sew4Service brought sewing machines and donated fabric scraps for students to work with. Students learned the machines, got to work, and turned those scraps into pet mats that are now in the cat room at the Euclid Animal Shelter. 🐾

Sew4Service wrote up the whole experience on their blog, and it's such a sweet read. Our favorite part is watching students connect a brand new skill to someone (or some cat) who needs it.

We also love that they welcome junior volunteers ages 13 to 17 at their Euclid, Lakewood, Medina, and Alliance locations, where teens work right alongside experienced makers. That kind of trust in what young people bring to the table is exactly why we're so glad to call them partners.

And a huge thank-you to every nonprofit partner who joined us at the conference and brought meaningful, hands-on service opportunities to our students. You made the day what it was.

today's the last day to save your students a spot 💙

Registration for the Youth Leadership & Service Conference at Northern Kentucky University closes today, and we'd love to see your group there next Thursday, Oct. 8.

MG alumna Camryn Morrow is opening the day with the keynote. After that, students choose from breakout sessions like All In: Starting an Inclusion Movement and Homelessness 101. Some will also jump into hands-on service projects, like designing chemo shirts for kids at Cincinnati Children's or voting in a $250 Giving Circle. Then they'll wrap up the day by meeting local nonprofits at our volunteer fair.

what a day, Northeast Ohio. 🩷

250 students, teachers, and nonprofit partners filled the room today for our Youth Leadership and Service Conference. Between 21 breakout sessions and a volunteer fair with 24 local nonprofits, there was a lot going on, but the real story is what this group actually got done.

By the end of the day, this group had made an impact you can count.

💵 $680 donated to Kids Book Bank
🥪 220 snack packs packed for End 68 Hours of Hunger
🎖️ 220 care packages assembled for active-duty military through the USO
💌 50+ cards made for senior citizens living alone
🏠 $500 donated to Project Hope for the Homeless through Magnified Giving
🐾 100+ toys made for shelter animals with Sew4Service
🌼 25 mums potted and delivered to Danbury Senior Living

Students showing up in a big way is exactly what this conference is about, and that part never gets old.

Huge thanks to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps for helping make today possible. Thank you for believing in what a room full of students can do when they're given the tools, the trust, and the chance to actually help.

what a night. 🩷

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Fall Dinner! Our theme was Giving is for Everyone, and it was a joy to gather with so many people who care about young people and about giving.

We celebrated our retired CEO Kelly Collison and her 12 years of service to Magnified Giving. Kelly, we're so grateful for everything you've given this organization and this community.

We also spotlighted the young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities taking part in our Youth Philanthropy Program through our partnership with the UC IDD Education Center, and presented two awards to inspiring young philanthropists.

We'll be sharing more about each of these moments soon, along with more photos from the evening, so stay tuned!

next friday, about 200 students and teachers are spending the day on service 💙

The fifth annual Northeast Ohio Youth Leadership & Service Conference for 9/11 Day is happening September 25, and we can't wait. Students from 15 schools will hear from student and community leaders, meet local organizations, and get hands-on with pop-up service projects. Think care packages for service members, hygiene bags for neighbors in need, cards for older adults, and pet toys made from fabric scraps for a local shelter. There's even a $500 Giving Circle where students vote on which nonprofit receives the grant.

This year also marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, and spending the day on service and kindness is one way these students honor it.

The conference is funded in part by 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps. Thank you for backing young people who want to serve, and thank you to Perry Service Learning and Lakeland Community College for their support.

Earlier this summer, thirty teachers, nonprofit staff, and after-school leaders from across the region spent a full day together learning how to recognize and use their own character strengths.

We partnered with the VIA Institute on Character to host the workshop at MadTree Parks and Rec in Cincinnati, and the pairing made sense right away. VIA brought decades of research behind their character strengths framework, and we brought the relationships we've built with regional educators over years of working in their classrooms. Together we shaped a day that felt made for the people actually in the room, not a generic training pulled off a shelf.

One educator with 28 years in the classroom called it one of the most valuable professional development days he's had. Investing in the adults who lead young people every day is investing in every student they'll reach this year. That's a big part of what this work is really about.

Thank you to the VIA Institute on Character and The Mayerson Foundation, whose support made the entire day free for every educator who attended. 💙
