Join us to knit (or learn to knit) mittens!
There is no fee…you supply your own worsted weight yarn and size US 4 double-pointed needles. (If you’ve taken my sock class, you already have the needles!) The pattern is free ://freevintageknitting.com/mittens/615-mittens-pattern.html
You’ll learn to make the thumb gusset, close the top of the mitten, and knit a thumb!
Skills needed for this knit along:
Long-tail cast on
Knit and purl stitches
It helps if you are comfortable knitting in the round on dpns or with magic-loop, but if you’ve never knitted in the round, not to worry….we can get you going.
We’ll meet on Thursday, November 16th at 6:00 pm and Thursday, November 30th at 6:00 pm as a group, with community chats and support on Instagram and Facebook June Sisters!
And as with all knit alongs, there will be PRIZES!!!
I’ll be knitting mittens to donate to charity….feel free to join me! Bust that stash or use up some scraps!
Please RSVP to [email protected] so that I’ll know how many mugs of hot chocolate to make and cookies to bake! See you then!

Learn to knit this fall and wrap yourself in warm woolens…all winter long!!!
Individual and small group lessons are available at YOUR convenience!
BEGINNING KNITTING, kids and grownups: 3 sessions
Learn to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, read a simple pattern, and complete your first project.
KNITTING KICKSTART: 1 session
Learn to read your knitting, fix common mistakes, and work back using tinking or frogging. This instruction is particularly good if you have beginning skills but get tripped up by dropped stitches, mistakes mid-row, or recognizing your stitches.
BEGINNING HAT KNITTING: 2 sessions
Learn to knit in the round, increase and decrease stitches, and close the crown of a hat using double-pointed needles.
BEGINNING SOCK KNITTING: 3 sessions
Learn to knit a top-down sock on double-pointed needles with a heel flap, gusset, and rounded toe.
SPECIFIC PROJECT HELP: 1 or more sessions, as needed
Have a project you want to make but need a little help? Let’s decipher that pattern and learn some new skills, like cables or lace.
Here’s how it works…
Learn to knit or acquire a new skill individually, or with a friend or two (or your child, age 7 and up) at days and times that are convenient for you. Daytime or evening sessions can easily be scheduled. And, each and every session includes a warm mug of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, because knitting is more than a handcraft….it’s a community!
Follow-up support for all classes is provided individually, or monthly at JuneSisters Knit Nights.
All classes are taught in our studio located on Petersburg Road.
Contact me at [email protected] for more information about class content and fees. Grab some wool, a pair of needles, and let’s go!
