Attended an event in Hopkinsville, KY this afternoon and visited with a newly discovered West cousin. She is Kimberly Baggett, wife of the past State President of the Kentucky Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

My 3rd great grandparents were Jesse West & Mary Bright Rogers. Mary died young in 1823 after having 4 sons. The last one born in 1822 was my 2nd great grandfather, William Ellis West. His 3 older brothers have been difficult for me to know much about them. They left Christian Co., Ky and went to one or so counties a distance away. I had done some limited checking of census info , but never really did much to track them down. Recently, due to me taking a (autosomal) DNA test with My Heritage who sends me people who match my results, along with Ancestry.com, Find-A-Grave and my Ancestral Quest Database. I managed to trace all 3 of William's older brothers down to the 20th and 21st centuries. Amos West's 2nd great granddaughter was born in Evansville, IN just 2 months after I was born. She is my 4th. Cousin that I did not know existed. She died in 2014 and buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Her name is Marilyn Sue Cooper ( her maiden name was Campbell). Her parents are interred in the same Cemetery's Mausoleum! Her Husband , Lonnie Cooper is buried in the military section. He was a M.Sgt.. in Viet Nam and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
