For a young musician, sharing the field with a world-class drum corps is the kind of thing you remember forever.
Our EVSC marching band students got to do exactly that with Phantom Regiment. They spent the day shadowing the corps through rehearsals, watching how they work up close, and learning from the performers. It all led to the moment they joined Regiment on the field to play their corps song, "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral."
A huge thank you to Phantom Regiment for giving our students a day they won't forget.

What does it really take to help someone recover after a stroke, a serious injury, or major surgery? Our Health Science Institute students found out firsthand during a tour of Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital.
They heard from speech, physical, and occupational therapists, and got hands-on with the work itself. They tried the thickener used for patients who have trouble swallowing, wore goggles that simulate vision changes after a stroke while balancing on a board, and attempted to take off a jacket using only one side of their body.
The takeaway went beyond the clinical. These students learned what it means to be a champion for your patients, to lead with empathy, and to walk alongside families through some of their hardest days. Experiences like this are exactly what HSI is about!
