Randall and Cheryl Alsman, proud Harrison High School graduates and longtime leaders in the Evansville community, have made a $1 million gift to the University of Evansville to help strengthen the University today and for years to come.

Randy has served on the UE Board of Trustees since 2017 and co-chaired the FORWARD Campaign, which surpassed its $125 million goal earlier this year. He also serves in leadership roles with the Evansville Redevelopment Commission and Signature School.

Cheryl has devoted her time and resources to causes that strengthen education, community development, humanitarian efforts, and the lives of others throughout the Evansville community.

"Cheryl and I have seen the momentum building at the University of Evansville, and we believe this is a critical time to invest in that progress," said Randy Alsman. "UE has a remarkable ability to change lives, serve this region, and prepare students for meaningful work, leadership, and service. We wanted our gift to give the University the flexibility to meet immediate needs while continuing to build for the future."

The University would like to thank Randall and Cheryl for their gracious donation to further assist our active academics, caring culture, and extraordinary experiences. 💜

The UE website has gone through more phases than most of us did in college.

We found the receipts: four real versions of evansville.edu spanning 1998 to 2015.

Do you remember browsing any of these? Which look is your favorite?

The UE Emily M. Young Mental Health Clinic has received a $250,000 grant from United Way of Southwestern Indiana to expand access to mental health care for individuals and families facing barriers to care.

We are grateful for United Way’s generous support, which will help the clinic continue serving the community while providing hands-on clinical training for students in UE’s Doctor of Psychology program!

If you have ever fallen down the rabbit hole of a wildly titled soap opera on TikTok, there is a good chance you have seen Kasey Esser ’11.

The Evansville native graduated from UE with a degree in Applied Exercise Science before moving to Los Angeles, where he opened Essers of Los Angeles, a semi-private personal training studio he operated for 10 years. Then, a long-held dream took center stage.

Today, Kasey is one of the most recognizable actors in vertical microdramas, phone-first serialized shows created to be watched in short episodes. He has starred in more than 55 productions that have accumulated over 500 million views, earning recognition from Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, and other major outlets.

Most recently, Kasey appeared alongside Jimmy Fallon and John Stamos in Who Billionaire? Me Billionaire, the first microdrama produced for The Tonight Show.

Kasey has also stepped behind the camera, producing Love in the Shadows and developing his own action microdrama, Love Under Fire. His work has taken him from an international fan event in the Philippines to the first vertical-drama fan convention.

At UE, Kasey was involved with Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Exercise Science Club. He chose the University because it gave him an opportunity to stand out, develop lasting skills, and feel “like a person and not just a number amongst the masses.”

His advice to future alumni reflects the persistence behind his own career:

“Whatever dream fills your heart with enthusiasm, do not ever give up on it...you were meant to achieve it and share that with the world.”

Kasey continues to support UE because, as he puts it, “I want to give back what they have given to me in my life.”

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Jacek Knaur (‘21)

Meet Jacek Knaur, a 2021 graduate of the University of Evansville Schroeder School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Today, Jacek works for Vitruvian Partners, an international private equity fund headquartered in London.

Reflecting on his time at UE, Jacek shared:
“One of the most important lessons I learned came from my economics professor, David Murphy, who emphasized that many college students will end up working in jobs that don’t even exist while they’re in school. That taught me that education should provide universal skills and a framework for thinking, rather than simply memorizing current theories. It’s a mindset that has encouraged me to stay up to date with industry trends and broader technological developments throughout my career.

I also received incredible mentorship from Professor Walayet Khan, who guided me through the CFA Institute Research Challenge. That experience significantly boosted my career and was one of the main reasons I was hired by Franklin Templeton right after graduation. He also introduced me to professionals in his network who provided valuable advice as I navigated my career.

Another great experience was the LEAD Forward program. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of my college experience, but it also gave me confidence in my leadership abilities. As I continue to take on high-value valuation projects, those leadership skills have become increasingly important.”

We’re proud to see Jacek applying the lessons, mentorship, and leadership skills he developed at UE on a global stage. 💜🌎
