Great success for the team. Team Cosmo finished in second place in the Prototype - Internal Combustion category. Team RUDI defended their winning streak for a 10th year with a new track record of 140.2 miles/kilowatt hour.

The team also won a spot to go to the World Championship in 2027. Details to come. Only four teams from this competition were selected.

Edit: 4 from 72 teams from 52 institutions!

RUDI has extended his lead with a new car record of 125.4 miles/Kilowatt hour. We believe this is also a new Shell Americas Urban Concept Battery Electric record.

RUDI has reclaimed first place in his category, but only by 2Kwh/mile. Meanwhile, Cosmo has broken the 2,000mpg for the first time since the mandated change to fuel injection over 9 years ago.

Our first round of competition runs didn’t go as hoped with the wind taking the hatch cover off Cosmo resulting in a DQ run and RUDI suffering a slow tire leak. RUDI is in second place currently with the hopes of taking the lead today. Check out this link for a nice local story on the event and a bit of an interview they did with our Team Cosmo student leader.

Both cars have passed tech inspection for 2026 and Team Cosmo is on track for practice now. Team RUDI will go out at 5:30 tonight.

The team is honored to announce that both vehicles have been accepted for the 2026 Shell Ecomarathon Americas to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in April. Both cars will be defending their wins from last year against high schools and universities from across North and South America. The Urban Concept vehicle, named RUDI, will be defending a win streak started in 2019 in its category.

It is time to start the 2024-25 campaign. This year the team is adding a go kart build and competition at the Subaru Test track to our regular Shell Eco Marathon entries at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We are having a call out meeting for interested students and parents in the cafeteria at 6:30 on Wednesday, September 18th. We look forward to meeting you there!
