Evansville Teachers Association

Evansville Teachers Association Empowering Members. Engaging Community. Ensuring excellent public education for ALL students. Our journey continues, and we invite you to be part of it.

Since 1914, the Evansville Teachers Association (ETA) has been the voice of dedicated educators, founded by teachers who recognized the power of unity to create real change. What began as a bold petition for fair pay soon evolved into a movement, overcoming obstacles to give teachers a platform for negotiating fair salaries, improved benefits, and professional recognition. Today, with over 900 members, ETA remains driven by the same core values: advocating for educators, empowering our community, and strengthening public education. Known statewide for our active role in education policy and community partnerships, we are committed to ensuring teachers' voices shape decisions that impact students, educators, and schools alike. As a professional association, ETA champions high-quality education for every student, regardless of background or circumstance, promoting inclusivity and opportunity. As a teachers’ association, we are unwavering in our mission to elevate the teaching profession, advance teachers' rights, and advocate for fair salaries, secure working conditions, and the respect every educator deserves. Together, let’s build a brighter future for our schools, our teachers, and our community.

Let's preserve our community's history together.

If you remember December 13, 1977, where were you when you learned about the University of Evansville plane crash? Share your memories in the comments.

Every story helps preserve a piece of Evansville's history.

Those shared memories are exactly what make local history so meaningful. Congratulations to Reitz High School teacher Jon Carl for sharing his passion for our community's past as a presenter for the Rotary Club's luncheon - Feel the History program!

Jon has a remarkable way of bringing the past to life, reminding us that history isn't just something we read about—it's something we experience, learn from, and pass on to future generations. Thank you for representing Reitz High School and inspiring our community through education.

Way to go, Jon! 👏📚🏫

Whoever said conferences are a vacation has clearly never been to a 7:00 a.m. meeting. 😄

Our 2-hour ISTA morning meeting is complete, and now we're heading to the convention center for another full day of learning, collaboration, and working on behalf of our members—for the benefit of our students, our schools, and our communities.
