BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION
2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
The following information will assist you and your children beginning the 2023-2024 school year.
For the safety of individual students as well as to assist the District in better serving students, the District must have on file in the school office: current telephone numbers (i.e. home, work, emergency), current home and mailing address, and current signatures of parent/guardian(s) for authorization purposes. This can all be updated via the yearly registration process. It is also important that the district has updated health information on file for all students enrolled.
Students being enrolled in the public schools of Evanston for the first time should bring copies of their birth certificate, immunization records and, when appropriate, records from previous school attended. During enrollment, the District will provide forms for parents to authorize the school to request records from previous schools.
At the time of registration, students will be provided supply lists and updated information pertaining to the student’s school, student fees, and school procedures. Student fees can be paid at that time, and parents are encouraged to deposit money into their student's lunch account before the first day of school.
Delayed Start Mondays: On Mondays, the starting time at all schools will be delayed by one hour. The delay provides the K-12 instructional staff time to participate in professional development focusing on instruction and collaboration while working on standards and assessments. Bus schedules, breakfast, and student supervision will be delayed by one hour. Please contact your building principal for additional details.
Online Fees and Registration: Parents need to log in to PowerSchool to complete the necessary registration forms prior to the first day of school. PowerSchool provides convenience for parents, as well as much needed efficiencies, time, and cost savings for the District. Mandatory Immunization Law
Immunization is mandatory for all students, kindergarten through grade twelve, who attend school. This is in accordance with the regulations of the State Department of Health and the laws of the State of Wyoming. Every child in the school district, including children entering school for the first time, must have a verified record of having received the required immunizations. Students not meeting this requirement will be enrolled only under the condition that appropriate immunizations are received within 30 calendar days.
Medical and religious exemption from immunization must be obtained by submitting the proper application to the Wyoming Department of Health in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Forms are available from the County Health Office, the Wyoming Department of Health and school nurses.
For specific information regarding types of immunization required, please contact your personal physician, the Uinta County Public Health Office or your school nurse. Persons without a physician whose students need immunizations may contact the Uinta County Public Health Office at 789-9203.
DISTRIBUTION OF NON-SCHOOL INFORMATION
Patrons, businesses and non-school activity groups are required by Board Policy to adhere to the following procedure for placement of all information, including fliers and/or posters in the schools:
Fill out the request form at the office of the Superintendent for prior written approval;
The written approval should be presented to the Principal or secretary at each building.
Public/Press Release for Free and Reduced Price Meals
The Federal Government has determined we will return to paid meals for the 2023-24 school year. Applications must be completed by the first day of school to ensure you receive the proper benefit. Any meals provided prior to receiving an application will be billed at full price.
Uinta County School District Number One announced its policy for free and reduced price meals for children unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. Each school and the Admin. Office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.
The following household size and income criteria will be used for determining eligibility. Children from households whose income is at or below the levels shown are eligible for free or reduced price meals.
SNAP Benefits and Foster Children
Students that are in these two categories can be directly certified for free lunch and breakfast without completing a meal benefit income application. Contact the school and they will process your request.
POWER and FDPIR Power (non custodial)
Students that are in these two categories can be certified for free lunch and breakfast, after a meal benefit income application is completed by the adult. The adult must include the adult household member’s signature and the appropriate case number.
Homeless and Runaway
Students who are determined to be homeless or runaway by the school will receive free lunch and breakfast. Contact the school for more information.
Households not receiving SNAP, POWER or FDPIR benefits
Students can be eligible for free or reduced lunches and breakfasts by completing a meal benefit income application. It must include all members of the household and their income, the last four digits of the primary adult’s social security number and signature. Forms can be obtained through the school or can be completed online at uinta1.com under the food service department.
Information provided on the application will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program officials. Applications may be submitted at any time during the year.
Under the provisions of the free and reduced price policy, Linda Martin, Food Service Director will review applications and determine eligibility. Parents or guardians dissatisfied with the ruling of the official may wish to discuss the decision with the determining official on an informal basis. Parents wishing to make a formal appeal may make a request either orally or in writing to Superintendent Ryan Thomas 537 10th Street 789-7571 for a hearing on the decision.
If a household member becomes unemployed or if the household size increases, the household should contact the school. The household may now be eligible for benefits if the household’s income is at or below the levels shown.
The information provided by the household is confidential and will be used only for purposes of determining eligibility and verifying data unless specific written consent is given.
The Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act requires the information on this application. You do not have to give the information, but if you do not, we cannot approve your child for free or reduced price meals. You must include the last four digits of the social security number of the adult household member who signs the application. The last four digits of the social security number is not required when you apply on behalf of a foster child or you list a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) case number or other FDPIR identifier for your child or when you indicate that the adult household member signing the application does not have a social security number. We will use your information to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, and for administration and enforcement of the lunch and breakfast programs. We MAY share your eligibility information with education, health, and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, or determine benefits for their programs, auditors for program reviews, and law enforcement officials to help them look into violations of program rules.
