“Have you ever asked the question, ‘Do I have what it takes to be a leader?’” Rev. Gail Song Bantum is partnering with the Garrett Collective to bring an exciting new seminar that will guide us in discovering the thread that uniquely weaves through each of our lives, our stories— threads that can clue us in how we might embrace the gift and particularity of who we are and how that shapes however we lead. Listen to Rev. Song Bantum share a little about her passion for cultivating the stories of our authentic selves.

To our q***r siblings: “You are whole…And we can exemplify, as q***r people, what loving unconditionally means.” Hear these words from Dr. Rolf Nolasco and know that you are beloved, both in God’s eyes and by this institution. This Pride, may you feel your sacredness and innate worth, and may the church rise against all efforts to thwart your flourishing.

Students deserve a pathway to seminary education “without economic barriers, without logistical and material obstacles to learning that keep those students from being able to walk in the front door.” At Garrett, we’re transforming that conviction into policy. Hear from Vice President Scott Ostlund about why it’s never been easier to answer the call to ministry and click the link in our bio to read more about our efforts to expand access and affordability.

We are still in joyful spirits from Garrett’s 170th Commencement that happened two weeks ago! In addition to celebrating our graduates, we were blessed to hear the wisdom of our commencement speaker Rev. Dr. Willie James Jennings on the importance of discernment.
Health workers report that Ebola's swift spread in the D.R.C. has been dramatically worsened by the administration's closure of USAID. As Dr. Kenneth Ngwa names, the serious damage to global health infrastructure has long-reaching implications first and foremost for the continent of Africa where hundreds of thousands of people have already died from lack of medical treatment but also for the rest of an interconnected globe. As the Director of the Forum for Religion and Global Health, Dr. Ngwa is working with partners at Africa University to consider how we can train clergy to intervene in this crisis strengthening public health response, identifying symptoms, and connecting people to necessary medical care. Visit our website to learn more about the hub for African ministry, and how you can support this crucial work.
