Ten new electric buses from Positive Connections hit the road this school year, bringing D65’s total to 11 electric buses which is about 20% of our fleet! They are being used on double routes to reach as many students as possible. Keep an eye out for the blue “Electric” lettering as they make their way around town!

This is another exciting step toward our goal of transitioning to 100% electric school buses by 2050 and creating a more sustainable future for our students and community. ⚡🌎

The annual 'Kits, ’Cats & Kids Block Party brought our community together this week for a fun-filled start to the new school year! Despite the heat, families enjoyed activities, games, yummy food, and a special joint performance by the Northwestern and ETHS marching bands, along with inspiring words from community leaders about the exciting year ahead! Let's make it a great one! ☀️ 📚

Attention Orrington and Haven communities! We anticipate minimal impact with work scheduled to occur from 9am-3pm but please allow extra time traveling to and from school tomorrow. 🚧 Orrington PTA

A fallen tree will be removed from a private residence on the 2600 block of Sheridan Road on Wed., Aug. 26. A crane will be used to lift and remove the tree, requiring it to extend over nearby power lines, which ComEd will temporarily deenergize during the work.

Sheridan Road will be fully closed to vehicles and bicycles in both directions between Ingleside Place and Ingleside Park, with bike lanes also closed. The closure will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. only, timed to avoid disrupting Orrington School drop-off and pick-up.

Pedestrian traffic will be restricted on the west side of Sheridan Road within the immediate work area and will be rerouted to the east side. However, access to Lighthouse Beach will remain open during the closure. More info: lnks.gd/3/3b6B53L

Only one more sleep! Please join us tomorrow (Friday, August 7) for the historic ribbon cutting of District 65's first new elementary building in over 60 years and the return of Foster School to the 5th Ward! The event will include remarks from District and community leaders, school tours in English and Spanish, family friendly activities, music, and refreshments.
