🚦 Crossing the street at Evanston Safety Town

Safely crossing the street is always Day One. Campers learn how to Stop, Look Left, Right, Left again (1-2-3) and Listen.

Campers will practice crossing streets with their teen counselors and learn how to spot danger at the curb. With practice, campers gain lifelong pedestrian skills.

Safety Town builds confidence AND awareness for young pedestrians. $165.

Evanston Safety Town needs its "town" painted again at Lincolnwood School. Last time we had a contact at Benjamin Moore paints who helped with a hefty discount for the deck paint that is needed. It's a lot for an area that is roughly 90 by 40. Several coats needed too.

From calling 911 to basic wound care, Safety Town campers learn how to respond to injuries, stay calm, and help others.

At Safety Town, campers hop in tiny “cars” to learn motorist safety—stop signs, traffic lights, pedestrian right-of-way, and more. It’s fun AND educational!

Warning tho: they may begin to criticize your driving.

Wilmette has a Safety Town too but Evanston's is only $155 no matter where you live. And their teen volunteers pay too. Not us. Earn community service hours.

Mack's Bikes is confirmed for visits to Safety Town this year to talk about bike and scooter safety. And most importantly, fit helmets correctly so that the forehead is protected.
