☀ Happy Labor Day! We are 1️⃣ day away from the start of our Fall Session 2026!

👋 We can't wait to welcome all of our students back into the studio AND want to remind our Grown-ups that we have classes for you too! Whether you are a seasoned professional or are new to dance all together we have a class for you! Discover DCE for yourself and FIND YOUR CENTER.

✨ DCE offers fun and invigorating drop-in classes for adults of all levels. Adult classes are $17-$19 by class or $170 for a 10-class card. The Adult program is designed to be 100% drop-in.

👔 Adults do not have a formal dress code – just wear clothes you’re comfortable moving in like activewear, leggings & shirts, etc. Style-specific footwear is recommended (ballet shoes for ballet, jazz shoes for jazz, clean light-soled sneakers for indoor use only for hip-hop, etc.).

About Class Levels
⭐️ Open (or no specific level listed) – Our Open level classes welcome a mix of all abilities. Some dancers have previous experience and some are brand new, but Open class teachers are experienced in teaching to who’s in the room.

🌟 Beginning/Beginner-Friendly – These classes are designed as introductory level. Plan to work on the basics and gain confidence in general movement and coordination.

💫 Continuing – These classes are designed for dancers with some previous experience. There’s an expectation that you are familiar with basic elements of the style and structure, and can pick up choreography more quickly.

🍎 Cecchetti is a method of teaching ballet in which select students learn a set ballet syllabus and, when ready, present their work before a panel of examiners. The exam process gives the students a specific goal.

📍 Dance Center Evanston is the only studio in Evanston to prepare students for exams with the Cecchetti Council of America. For more information about the Cecchetti Method, visit the website of the Cecchetti Midwest Committee at cecchettimidwest.org.

😎 Our Boys Program is ready to show up and show out this Fall! Get ready for them in 3️⃣, 2, 1!

💪 Boys Dance and Men’s Technique classes offer an athletic and energetic approach to dance which helps develop balance, coordination, and power in movement through an emphasis on rhythm. Boys are also encouraged to take any Modern, Ballet, Tap & Hip-Hop classes appropriate to their age and ability. (All male & gender non-conforming dancers welcome!)

🎶 Tap and Hip-Hop are energetic dance forms usually danced to contemporary music. They help dancers develop strong rhythmic sense and style.

🎧 Dance is an athletic art form that strengthens the student physically, stimulates them mentally, and inspires them artistically. ✨ Academy students are expected to take a wide variety of classes, including Ballet, Pointe, Cecchetti, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop to become well-rounded dancers. (The Academy Program is available to students by recommendation only)

📍 Our goal is to offer a carefully designed progressive training program which moves the student from the Primary levels, through the Student Division, and into the Academy Program. We evaluate the student’s progress each year and make appropriate placement suggestions. The cumulative nature of the program is designed to prepare the young dancer for any college or professional program.

🎱 We cannot wait for the very special date of September 8! So, don't be late! Register for Fall Session today, mate!

🌟 Our Fall Session is right around the corner starting Tuesday, September 8 and we are so excited for you to join us in the studio and COME DANCE WITH US! The Primary Division (ages 2-8) is an exciting introduction to the world of dance designed especially for the young beginner. The main goal of the primary program is to help the young student enjoy the process of learning dance by keeping it fun and encouraging.

📣 NEW! Tiny Toes (ages 2-3)
Saturday, 9:30-10:00am w/ Calyn
Our littlest movers will wiggle, learn and grow in this creative class that combines dance and storytelling. Grown-ups can choose whether to be present depending on the individual dancer's comfort level.

📣 NEW! Intro Musical Theater (ages 7-8)
Saturday, 12:00-12:45pm w/ Calyn
From the studio...to the stage! This fun class is a playful exploration of famous Broadway and movie musical characters based in jazz dance technique.

🌡 That cooler temperature is Jack Frost nipping at you nose to reminder you...AUDITIONS ARE TOMORROW!

❄ We're so excited to announce the choreographers for the world premiere of JACK FROST! Fill out our audition form online and learn original choreography from directors Béa Rashid & Calyn Carbery with Victoria Barlow, Julie Cartier, Kaleigh Dent, Rosina DeVries, Allison Kurtz Volkers, Wendy Park, and Eduardo Zambrana. Auditions for this brand-new production will be held as follows:

🗓 FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
4:30-5:30pm Ages 7-10
6:00-7:30pm Ages 11-18

🗓 SUNDAY, AUGUST 30
11:00am-1:00pm Additional Auditions/Callbacks as needed

📝 Dancers may be selected for one, two, or more roles, or may not be selected to participate this year. The cast will be announced the week of September 1, and rehearsals begin on Friday, September 11. Rehearsals will be held on Fridays 4:30-6:30pm (4:30-5:30pm for younger dancers) and on some Sundays 11:00am-1:00pm beginning in December. Dancers must be consistently available during rehearsal times.

👋 If you have an unavoidable, cannot-be-moved conflict for the Friday 8/28 auditions, please contact us directly at [email protected] to make arrangements. There are some costs associated with this production; financial aid and scholarships are available (contact the office for more information). Here is the breakdown:

Participation Fee - 1 role: $275
Participation Fee - each additional role: $125
Costume rental fees and ticket sales will be handled separately.

📣 Once the cast is announced, you will be prompted register for Jack Frost like a class through the Customer Portal or the DCE office prior to rehearsals beginning on Friday, September 11.

🎤 Hip-Hop Enrichment is back-back-back-back-back again!

⚡ Dancers looking to take their Hip-Hop swagger to the next level with bigger energy, bigger moves, and a bigger stage - This is the class for you! Step out of your comfort zone and into the groove with Hip-Hop Enrichment!

🎧 This class will focus on building choreography for the Fall Hip-Hop Showcase held at Studio5 on Monday, December 7 and then work toward a video project and/or competition in the spring, as well as any other performance opportunities arise.

✨ To opt-in to the Enrichment program, please register for it like a class, either online or on the registration form. Additional fees for costumes or performances may apply.
Dancers enrolled in Hip-Hop 2-Academy 3 are automatically eligible for the Hip-Hop Enrichment program.
