The Music Institute of Chicago closed out the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Thursday Morning Music Series last week with a wonderful performance of Bach, Kreisler, and Kodály by MIC’s Academy students.🌺🎶

Ingrid Updegraff, violin, Olivia Zheng, violin, and Roy Wu, cello, shared a bit about their pieces and answered questions about their musical experiences as guests came to the stage to thank them. Guitar Department Chair Brad Conroy closed out the program with intimate melodies by composers including Heitor Villa-Lobos.

🎹 This summer, students in our Piano Concerto Summer Program, From Soloist to Collaborator, led by Dr. Soo Young Lee, explored what it means to grow from soloist to collaborator through coaching, performance preparation, and real-world musical experiences!
They had the opportunity to meet pianist Olga Kern backstage and hear about her experiences performing with orchestra, as well as participate in a guest artist masterclass with pianist Katherine Lee.
