Join LACS this week!
Valeria Coronel Valencia (Professor of Sociology at FLACSO-Ecuador and former Secretary of Culture of the Municipality of Quito) will share how her academic work on Latin American modern history, and on indigenous political engagement with contentious politics and the dispute for cultural hegemony, has informed her work for a postcolonial government in the cultural sector.
Dr. Coronel will offer a short presentation, followed by a conversation with Jorge Coronado (Director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese).
This talk is co-hosted by the Kaplan Humanities Institute as part of its Public Humanities Initiative.
Lunch will be served!
