📚👮‍♂️ Cops & Kids! ❤️

The Quota Club and Officer Taylor teamed up to put a book in every student’s hands! Thanks to the Quota Club’s generous donation, students had the opportunity to choose a book of their own to take home and enjoy. 📖

Officer Taylor also talked with students about the importance of reading and how books can open the door to new adventures, ideas, and learning!

A huge THANK YOU to the Quota Club and Officer Taylor for investing in our students and helping foster a love of reading! 🥰📚

💬🗣️ October is AAC Awareness Month! 💙

At Poyner, we believe every voice matters, and every student deserves to be heard! 💙

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) includes tools and strategies that help individuals communicate when speaking is difficult or not their primary way of communicating. AAC can look like communication devices, picture symbols, communication boards, gestures, and so much more!

✨ Communication is more than spoken words.
✨ Every student has something to say.
✨ Every attempt to communicate deserves to be acknowledged.
✨ Everyone deserves a voice, a choice, and the opportunity to be understood.

This month, and every month, we’re celebrating the many ways our students communicate! 💙

Let’s continue to model, encourage, and create opportunities for meaningful communication throughout the day. Because when we make room for every voice, we make our school a more inclusive place for everyone! 🩵

A big shout out to our very own Evandale Fire Department.🧯🚒They volunteered their time today to teach us about fire prevention. 💜 They even gave us homework! What is your families fire safety plan?

We also had some friendly competition between our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Our 3rd grade students won again this year! 🏆 (With coaching from Mrs. Cavanaugh. 😊)

😴🔋 Rest, Recharge & Sharpen the Saw! 🧠✨

Our Poyner Panthers showed leadership today by taking time to rest, recharge, and take care of themselves! 💙🐾 We’re celebrating students who understand that taking care of their mind and body helps them be ready to learn, grow, and lead each day! 🌟

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week Fun! 🔥🚒
We also had a special visit from our local firefighters! Our PreK–2 students got an up-close look at the fire trucks and learned important fire safety tips, while our 3rd–5th graders enjoyed a fire prevention assembly! 👨‍🚒🚒 We are so thankful for the firefighters who took time to teach and keep our students safe!

🏆 Our Poyner Panthers are CHAMPIONS of Leadership! 🏆

Today, our students showed what it means to be a champion of leadership by making positive choices, encouraging others, and being great role models! 💙🐾 We are so proud of the leadership we see throughout our school each day!

🎉 Buddy Classroom Fun! 🎉
Our classrooms teamed up with their buddy classrooms to build connections, work together, and have some fun playing Minute-to-Win-It games! ⏱️🏆 We loved seeing our students cheer each other on, practice teamwork, and show great sportsmanship!
