Congratulations to Liliana Beemer on being named the WJBF Scholar Athlete of the Year for Evans High School!

She is a distance runner, ranked #3 in Georgia last cross country season across all classes and all divisions and #19 all time in Georgia, holds the following achievements:

Atlanta’s Peach Tree 10K – Elite HS Division Champion; GHSA 5A T&F 1600m State Champion; 3200m Runner-Up; and Cross Country 5k State Champion Runner-up 5K.

Liliana holds the EHS school records in the 800m through 5k with the following times:
2:15 800m | 4:54 1600m | 10:43 3200m |17:30 5k | 37:06 10K

Liliana is also an AP Scholar with Honors and holds a 96.18 GPA and plans to attend medical school in the future.

GOOD NEWS UPDATE: Tonight Carson Hoskins officially became an Eagle Scout.

That sentence makes me smile.

We first met Carson when he was working to honor his little sister, Evie, who tragically drowned at the lake.

He turned that unimaginable loss into something that could help others: a life-jacket stand just steps from where Evie died, giving families access to life jackets when they need them.

Congratulations, Carson. What an amazing accomplishment — and such a beautiful way to honor Evie.

If you’re at the lake, please use the life jackets and return them when you’re done. Help Carson continue his mission of keeping others safe in Evie’s name.
