Congratulations to our very own Lindsay Hayes — Greenbrier’s WJBF Scholar Athlete!

A four-year starter, two-time All-Region selection, and senior captain for Greenbrier Volleyball, Lindsay leads both on and off the court. At middle blocker, she’s currently hitting an impressive .336 with 57 kills this season.

In the classroom, Lindsay holds a 3.98 GPA and is on track to complete 13 Advanced Placement courses, including the AP Capstone program. Beyond sports and academics, she is also a talented musician who writes, records, and performs her own music around town (catch her at the Evans Market)!

We are so proud of you, Lindsay!

Do What You Do: Teacher Tuesday

We couldn't let the day pass without sharing our spotlight teacher Mr. Sean Mann, one of our engaging Social Studies teachers! Mr. Mann creates an environment where students feel valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. His positive attitude and dedication have helped countless students grow not only academically, but also personally, giving them confidence, motivation, and a stronger belief in what they can accomplish. Jude Lokey (10) said, "Mr. Mann is simply amazing. Although AP Psych seemed daunting at first, his teaching style is so engaging that you don't realize how much you are learning. For example, one day he was teaching about selective attention and mid-lesson he took his shoes off and hardly anyone noticed. That was a great way to make the idea of selective attention have meaning and stick with us. AP Psych is a class that I truly look forward to every day."

You are awe-inspiring, Mr. Mann! Keep doing what you're doing!

A HUGE THANK YOU to those who have already volunteered. We only need 5 more volunteers for September 16th and 6 more volunteers for September 17th!

JOIN Greenbrier High School FOR A VOLUNTEER DAY WITH JA of Georgia!

Support your child by volunteering with us at Junior Achievement of Georgia (JA)! JA, Columbia County School District, and Richmond County School System have partnered to build the JA Discovery Center of the CSRA. The facility is housed in a 30,000-square-foot space within Columbia County School’s Support Complex. This JA Discovery Center expands access to our programming to 15,000 area middle and high school students, giving them the opportunity to experience their futures by engaging in our hands-on simulations called JA Finance Park, JA BizTown, and JA Finance Park Advanced.

We need parent and family volunteers to coach our high school students throughout the simulation day sharing your life wisdom and experience! If you have ever had a job or paid a bill, you are VERY qualified to be a JA volunteer.

When? In-Person | September 16th & 17th | 8:00am-1:45pm

Where? JA Discovery Center of the CSRA | 4395 River Watch Parkway, Unit 6 Evans, GA 30809

Congratulations to Greenbrier High School biology teacher, Crystal McDowell, who was awarded a $5,000 National Grant for professional learning. She is one of just 337 educators nationwide selected. Mrs. McDowell will explore molecular biology, scientific modeling, 3D printing, and biotechnology, bringing new knowledge and real-world learning opportunities back to CCSD students in AP Biology, Genetics, and Epidemiology.

Ms. Flynt’s class is on FIRE! By completing the flame test lab, the classes explored how electron transitions shift metal atoms between ground and excited states- and how those jumps dictate the wavelength, frequency, and energy of emitted photons. Our students seemed to enjoy a lesson that let them play with fire! Way to go, Ms. Flynt! Keep doing what you do!
