Big News for Greenbrier Middle School!
We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own, Mr. David Phillips, has been selected for the Army STEM Teacher Fellowships Program (FY26 cohort)! This prestigious program, a division of the Army STEM Education Consortium, chooses educators from across the nation to participate in high-level professional development.
As a Level 2 participant, Mr. Phillips will head off this summer for an intensive research experience. Here is a look at what he’ll be doing:
⭐️Hands-on Research: Spending 4 to 6 weeks working alongside world-class Army scientists and engineers in professional laboratories.
⭐️Curriculum Building: Developing new, real-world STEM unit plans to bring back to his classroom right here at Greenbrier.
⭐️Advanced Training: Completing up to 240 hours of specialized STEM training focused on research-based best practices.
The goal of this fellowship is to give teachers the tools to show students how STEM concepts apply to the real world and to highlight exciting future career paths in the Department of Defense.

ELA + a little spice = one unforgettable 6th grade learning experience! 🌶️📚➗

Our 6th graders combined expository reading, writing, ratios for math, creativity, and critical thinking through a TAKI-inspired multimodal project! Students explored the history behind Takis and why they’ve become so popular, analyzed informational texts and videos about how they’re made, and even investigated articles about the artificial ingredients found in popular snacks.

Then came the hands-on challenge — creating their OWN chip flavor! Students experimented with real spices, designed custom chip bags with purposeful colors, fonts, and images, and discovered very quickly that the ratio of ingredients MATTERS! 😅🔥

This engaging project brought learning to life by blending literacy, math, science, creativity, and collaboration all into one flavorful experience!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our very own Ms. Lewis has been honored with the TaxSlayer Champions of the Classroom award! 🍎✨
Along with this prestigious recognition, Ms. Lewis received $500 to continue her incredible work in the classroom. This award isn’t just about the numbers; it’s a testament to her heart, her hustle, and her unwavering dedication to our students.
