Nonsense words help with fluency so much because it shows us which phonics rules they know and which ones they are still struggling with, as they have never seen these words before.

When to use -sion vs -tion :
use -tion for all words except:
after l (ex: compulsion) or s (ex: confusion).
Simply add s to make most words plural.
However, add es behind words that end in s, x, z, sh, ch, tch, and o.
‘s means “is” in all contractions
(like she’s…she is)
except one: let’s.
In this contraction, the ‘s means let us: let’s.
