Enjoy my testimony of Gods goodness on our 6 year anniversary!
Leslie started her barbering career 19 years ago, at Texas Barber College in Dallas, Texas. Having graduated high school in 1998, with advanced honors, and dabbling in college course plans with more traditional career choices, including law, sales and waiting tables, she found herself ungrounded and in need of something that would be stable and provide for her family as a young mother, without the demands of those traditional career choices.
Prayerfully contemplating the best path, she began to realize her dad, a master barber, had provided for his family and was home in the evenings with his family. Working in a secretarial position, at the time, she asked herself, "Why don't I go to barber college?" She enrolled the next week and she never looked back. Leslie was ALL IN — like most everything she decides or is asked to do. That was the Summer of 2007. By the Summer of 2008 she had successfully completed the 1500-hour course program and final exam and went straight to her dad's shop.
You might think her dad would be easy on her, but you would be wrong. He wanted her to have the highest standards, skills and professionalism — so there were no "family" breaks. Leslie spent 8 1/2 years at the Mabank Barbershop and developed the skills of a Master Barber and built an amazing and very loyal clientele.
In January 2017, it was time to open a new chapter in her life and move on to open her own shop - the Eustace Barbershop. Little did she know God was taking her to the next level in her chosen profession of Barbering.
She tells it like this: In early February, God put a new plan in my heart — to be a teacher. Then while attending a Christian Conference, on February 14, 2020, a woman, who I did not know, came up to me and confirmed the plan, by saying: "You are going to be an instructor." After praying about it, I enrolled in a barber instructor program that next week. I completed the program in June 2020. With some very undeniable Divine Intervention, I was able to schedule the two state licensing exams and passed them both and received my barber instructor license by June 18, 2020. Things were definitely moving the way and at a pace only God could plan and attain. No one could have achieved the things that I accomplished, in such a short period of time, during one of the most bizarre situations this country has ever faced, without His personal hand and His will being played out right before my very eyes!
First Class Barber College was in the works and years in the making. I never dreamed that God would have me to be an instructor, let alone a barber college owner. During this process, I have asked Him: "Why me, Lord?" and He tells me: "because I chose you". Wow! I am Chosen!
He set the plans in motion, and I was a willing vessel to do what He led me to do. He provided every resource and I ran with it, listening very intently to all the small details.
Here we are now, 6 years in, with nearly 70 graduates and still extremely eager for the start of something New in a very Old Profession! Let's start this Journey Together! All Glory to God, the Father, through His Son, Jesus Christ!
