There’s no better way to start the school year than rolling out the red carpet! ❤️🎉 Our staff was ready to cheer, clap, and celebrate as we welcomed our students back for the first day of school. We have some incredible new staff members including 2nd grade teacher Ms. Tabbert and Director of Student Services Mr. Garcia! We are so excited for another amazing year of learning, growing, and making memories together! 📚✏️✨

Happy summer Freshwater Community!
Cris Hollen and Denise Weiges are working with the summer camp students teaching cooking and gardening!
We are looking for any community volunteers for any amount of time today Friday 6/19, Saturday 6/20, and Sunday 9-1 6/21 to help prep our school garden for summer camp.

Please contact Cris Hollen directly via text at 707-502-4372 if you can help for any portion so she can arrange her schedule to meet any volunteers.

We are also seeking 6’ posts of any material to support our sunflower classroom that will be the center of our summer garden! Sturdy enough to help hold up flowers from the elements.

After 63 years of dedicated service to the Freshwater School District, Mrs. Nickols will be retiring at the end of this school year. We are so grateful for this amazing person that has dedicated her life to the Freshwater community. Her impact on students, staff, and families at Freshwater is immeasurable. Our first celebration was on her birthday in April with family and Freshwater Alumni, and there is more celebrating to be done! Thank you Mrs. Nickols for all that you have given us and we know that you will continue to be a part of our Freshwater Family moving forward. Your legacy at Freshwater School will always be second to none!

Freshwater School celebrated Earth Day last week with a full day of interactive, hands-on environmental learning. Students rotated through a series of engaging stations led by community presenters, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Program, Cal Poly Humboldt EE students, the Recycling Center and Green Diamond. Many teachers and staff also dedicated their time and energy to make this event a huge success! A special thanks goes out to teachers Jess Hummel and Karin Mohrmann for organizing this special event!
