NOTICE OF OPEN POSITION ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
FOR EUREKA CITY SCHOOLS TRUSTEE AREA 3
September 11, 2026 - The Humboldt County Office of Elections confirmed candidacy filings for the November 3, 2026 General Election on August 17, 2026. No candidates were nominated for the Eureka City Schools Board of Trustees seat representing Trustee Area 3. As a result, Trustee Area 3 will not appear on the ballot, and the Eureka City Schools Board of Trustees will conduct an appointment process to fill the position. The individual appointed to Trustee Area 3 will serve a full four-year term ending in December 2030.
NOTICE is hereby given that all qualified persons who would like to apply for the open position on the Board of Trustees for Eureka City Schools, Trustee Area 3, may contact Eureka City Schools, c/o Gary Storts, Ed.D., Superintendent ([email protected]), for a candidate information sheet. All candidate information sheets (original copies) must be submitted on or before Friday, October 16, 2026, no later than 4:00 p.m., to the Superintendent’s Office of Eureka City Schools (2100 J Street, Eureka, CA 95501 – Room 108).
Qualifications for Office: The applicant shall be a registered voter residing in Trustee Area 3 for Eureka City Schools. The boundaries for Trustee Area 3 can be reviewed by visiting the Eureka City Schools’ website (https://www.eurekacityschools.org/governance/school-board-trustee-areas) or through the Humboldt County Office of Education – District Locator (https://hcoe.org/district-locator/).
NOTICE is further given that appointment to the office will be made in the event there are no nominees or no qualified nominees. (Appointments will be made pursuant to 10515 of the Elections Code or 5326, 5328, and 5328.5 of the Education Code.)

AVISO DE PUESTO VACANTE EN LA JUNTA DIRECTIVA
PARA EL ÁREA 3 DE FIDEICOMISARIOS DE EUREKA CITY SCHOOLS
11 de septiembre de 2026 - La Oficina de Elecciones del Condado de Humboldt confirmó el 17 de agosto de 2026 las presentaciones de candidaturas para las Elecciones Generales del 3 de noviembre de 2026. No se nominó a ningún candidato para el puesto de la Junta Directiva de Eureka City Schools que representa el Área 3 de Fideicomisarios. Como resultado, el Área 3 de Fideicomisarios no aparecerá en la boleta electoral, y la Junta Directiva de Eureka City Schools llevará a cabo un proceso de nombramiento para cubrir el puesto. La persona nombrada para el Área 3 de Fideicomisarios cumplirá un mandato completo de cuatro años que finalizará en diciembre de 2030.
POR MEDIO DEL PRESENTE SE NOTIFICA que todas las personas calificadas que deseen solicitar el puesto vacante en la Junta Directiva de Eureka City Schools, Área 3 de Fideicomisarios, pueden comunicarse con Eureka City Schools, a la atención de Gary Storts, Ed.D., Superintendente ([email protected]), para obtener una hoja de información para candidatos.
