We will resume normal business hours 8-5pm on Tuesday, February 17th. During the 12-1pm lunch hour we are closed and phone calls are not answered during that time.

Devil's Garden C**t Challenge

It is that time again, applications for the Devil's Garden C**t Challenge are open! The Devil's Garden C**t Challenge is an opportunity for youth to take home and train a wild horse. Horses are typically weanlings but older horses can be made available for experienced 4-Hers. Youth trainers are given a 6 month training window and an opportunity to compete at the C**t Challenge which is held at the Modoc District Fair in August. The top trainer receives $1000 cash. There are over $3500 in prizes total. Youth can view and pick up horses in Alturas, Litchfield and Ridgecrest, CA. Join UC Cooperative Extension and UC Davis Veterinary Medicine for a free, Tuesday-evening webinar series focused on practical beef cattle health and management. The sessions cover topics important to cattle health and management and include lots of visuals. Webinars are held live and participants have the opportunity to ask clarification questions on topics presented or with personal ranch questions or scenarios. This site includes future events, recordings of past webinars, and follow up resources on important cattle herd health topics.

The webinars are cohosted by University of California Cooperative Extension advisors Tracy Schohr, Grace Woodmansee, Andrea Warner, and specialist Dr. Gabriele Maier.
