Recently, Fortuna High’s Biology & Community Health class had the opportunity to learn more about careers in Emergency Medical Services. Rus from the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department and Carson from City Ambulance of Eureka shared valuable insight on careers as an EMT, paramedic, and firefighter. They explained the necessary steps towards each career path and advice on how high school students could continue to learn more about each career. The presentation concluded with the students getting to explore the ambulance and fire engine. The students had great questions and both Rus and Carson were happy to provide open and honest answers.

Thank you Carson and Rus for taking the time to share your experiences and insight with our local youth; and thank you for all you do for our community!

Recently, the students from Eureka High’s Automotive II class, taught by Sean Mitchell, took a field trip to Quality Body Works to explore the fascinating world of vehicle repair. The students toured the shop, learned about the collision repair process, and had a little friendly competition when practicing their polishing skills. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the technology and skills that go into restoring vehicles and learn about the various career options available. Big thanks to Ross and the team at Quality BodyWorks for their insights and support! ⚙️🚗🔧

Join us for the 8th Annual Financial Aid Workshop for high school counselors and college access staff on Thursday, October 3rd. The workshop will include updates on FAFSA and CADAA, information on programs for Foster Youth, and a comprehensive overview of Cal Grant programs.
