Please join us in welcoming Shelli Louise, Clear Spring School’s new Outdoor Education teacher!

Shelli is a local artist, creative educator, and one of the hearts behind Visionary Art Studio in Eureka Springs.

Shelli believes time outdoors can spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and deepen a child’s connection to the world around them. She is passionate about conservation and environmental stewardship and looks forward to helping our students learn through hands-on experiences—with plenty of art, discovery, and imagination woven in along the way.

Shelli’s approach feels right at home at Clear Spring, where the natural world is both classroom and teacher. We are thrilled to welcome her creativity, curiosity, and love of nature to our school community!

We planned. We worked. We connected—and we even found time for a conga line.

Last week, Clear Spring teachers, staff, board members and Friends of Clear Spring gathered for three focused days at Rolling Hills Retreat.

Tuesday and Thursday were devoted to teacher planning: shaping what will happen inside the classroom, outside the classroom and everywhere in between. On Wednesday, our Development Retreat brought the broader school community together to celebrate progress, strengthen committees and set 90-day goals for fundraising, community engagement, campus improvements and Spring Fling.

When the work was done, we explored the trails and greenhouse, cooled off in the pool, relaxed in the hot tub perched high above the hills and soaked in the flowers, stars and THE VIEW.

Our heartfelt thanks to Bridget and Dub for welcoming us to Rolling Hills Retreat and giving us such a beautiful place to plan, reconnect, rest and prepare for the year ahead.

We returned to Clear Spring with plans in motion, renewed energy and a deeper appreciation for the people helping us build what comes next. 💚

🎭 Please join us in welcoming a familiar face and extraordinary creative force to Clear Spring School!

We are thrilled to welcome Emily Ulibarri as our new theater production educator for students in grades 1–12.

Many in our community know Emily as the co-founder of Melonlight Theater. A theater and dance educator, playwright, choreographer, and producer, she brings more than 20 years of experience to Clear Spring. She also serves as a movement specialist and choreographer for Opera in the Ozarks.

Emily’s program will go far beyond acting. Students will explore performance, movement, playwriting, technical theater, design, producing, and more—while building confidence, creativity, communication, and leadership.

We can’t wait to see what our students create when the curtain rises! ✨

Last week, our Head of School Dr. Jessica FitzPatrick, Academic Coordinator Rigdon Irvin, and Maintenance Director/Wisdom of the Hands Coordinator Michael Trujillo traveled to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission headquarters in Little Rock for the School of Conservation Leadership Recognition Awards.

Clear Spring was proudly recognized as one of the 2025–26 designation awardees, as well as a 2026-2029 School of Conservation Leadership—an honor that reflects our ongoing commitment to hands-on learning, environmental stewardship, and helping students build meaningful relationships with the natural world.

We’re incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners who helped make this recognition possible. This is who we are—in our nature. 🌱

Now hiring: Outdoor Educator (Grades 5 –12)

Clear Spring School is seeking someone to anchor our middle and high school program on 20 wooded acres in the Ozarks.

This is more than a teaching role: it’s an opportunity to design and lead a program rooted in place. From environmental science and watershed work to camping trips and interdisciplinary learning, this role brings education into the natural world in a meaningful way.

It's happening! ✨

Our new nature-scape play structure is officially underway, and we couldn't be more excited to watch this beautiful vision come to life thanks to Josh Hart and the talented crew at Natural State Treehouses in Fayetteville.

This project has been a dream for quite some time, and seeing the first phase become a reality is incredibly meaningful. We can already imagine the joy, curiosity, creativity, and adventures that will fill this space when our students return to campus next month.

Our children deserve places that invite exploration, spark imagination, encourage thoughtful risk-taking, and deepen their connection to the natural world. We believe some of the most important learning happens through play—and we're thrilled to create a space where wonder can flourish.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, encouraged, shared our vision, or lent a helping hand—thank you. Your generosity is helping shape more than a playground. You're creating a place where friendships will grow, confidence will bloom, and childhood memories will be made for years to come.

One of the things that makes Clear Spring School unique is that we don't believe education should be one-size-fits-all.

Just as children are constantly growing and changing, so are their needs. That's why each school year at Clear Spring looks a little different. We thoughtfully adapt and evolve our classrooms based on enrollment, grade sizes, reading levels, learning styles, and the unique strengths and needs of the students in front of us.

Rather than asking children to fit into a rigid system, we work to create learning environments that fit them.

This flexibility allows us to be intentional, responsive, and deeply invested in every student's journey. It's one of the many ways we nurture a lifelong love of learning and help each child grow with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.

Because at Clear Spring, education isn't static—it grows right alongside our students. 🌱

Inspired by Jasper Johns' White Flag, students explored American history, identity, and the many stories that make up our nation. Using colorful fabric remnants—each unique in texture, color, and character—they stitched together a flag that reflects the beauty and complexity of America itself.

We hope you'll come celebrate these young artists as their work is unveiled at the Museum of Eureka Springs Art. Meet the students, hear the story behind the quilt, and be part of an evening that honors creativity, community, and the many threads that connect us.

🌿 We're thrilled to share some exciting news!

Clear Spring School has officially been designated an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission School of Conservation Leadership—one of just 31 schools selected from 65 participating schools across Arkansas this year.

This recognition reflects our school-wide commitment to conservation, outdoor education, and hands-on learning that inspires curiosity, stewardship, and a lifelong connection to the natural world.

We're especially honored that the evaluation team also recommended Clear Spring School for mentor status, recognizing our unique approach to learning and our commitment to helping other schools grow their conservation programs.

This achievement belongs to our incredible students, teachers, staff, families, volunteers, and community partners. Thank you for believing in learning beyond the classroom and helping us nurture the next generation of conservation leaders.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our Clear Spring families, friends, and community, we have raised $6,000 toward our $8,000 goal for Phase 1 of our new nature-scape playground on the main campus. Thank YOU!

That means we only have $2,000 left to raise to help bring this first phase to life.
