2024 Governor’s State Employees Food Drive! Help us reach our goal! ❤️🙌

Our little duck visited a Food for Lane County community partner this week.

💚💚💚

“The Student Sustainability Center (SSC) is home to many programs at the university such as the Grove Garden (a community garden for students), Waste Reduction and Reusables (free stuff for the UO community), Habitat Restoration (hands-on environmental restoration), Environmental Justice (education about the intersectionality of social and climate issues), Food Justice (Produce Drops!), Climate Anxiety (activities and community building) and more!

[They] also support other student clubs and organizations that do important sustainability, justice, and environmental work on campus.
In hopes of creating accessibility around environmental advocacy and sustainability initiatives, all of [their] programs and events are open to every student and range from low to high-commitment opportunities.”

💚💚

The SSC Food Justice team understands that food insecurity isn’t always visible and that many students experience it in multiple forms. They work towards providing students with increased access to fresh and healthy foods by partnering with Food for Lane County for weekly Produce Drops.

“The Produce Drops are like a pop-up farmer’s stand, but everything is free to eligible students and their families. There’s no enrollment or sign-up. Just come and fill a bag with what you need.”

If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity and could benefit from the Produce Drops, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the SSC.

They’re located in the EMU in room 005 and are open every weekday from 10am-5pm. They can also be reached at [email protected].
