Winter Term OHSU Mentor Circles

OHSU medical students will be holding 2 virtual Mentor Circles during the Winter term for pre-med students (and all students considering a career in medicine!). Our mission is to provide peer-to-peer insight into the medical school application process to rural, non-traditional, and under-represented students in Oregon who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine through quarterly discussions. Students from all backgrounds are welcome. Please come ready to ask questions and for an open discussion!

Please register for one session by completing the form for the date/time you would prefer. You will receive a reminder e-mail the day prior, and a Zoom link and password will be e-mailed the day of the event.

UCLA's Pre-medical Enrichment Program (PREP) application is open!

Description: A 6-week intensive summer program that provides pre-med students with the means to strengthen their ability and readiness to study medicine. Full participation in the program allows participants to enhance their chances of being accepted into medical school and succeeding once there.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
-Must be a 3rd year, 4th year, or recent college graduate
-Applicants must come from an educationally or economically disadvantaged background
-Applicants must be U.S citizens, hold a permanent residency or have documentation of approved eligibility for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in the State of California
-Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA
-Applicants should have not taken the MCAT before July 15, 2024
-Demonstrated interest in addressing issues affecting underserved populations in healthcare
-Compelling personal statement (PDF Format)

This all-virtual event will host a family medicine doctor, a dentist, a physician assistant, a pharmacist, and a nurse practitioner, with a facilitator guide. This event is open to all Oregon undergrad, gap year, and graduate students who are considering or have decided to go into health care, and who may be curious about working in rural areas. This is a chance for students to meet some fantastic rural Oregon health care providers, and learn more in a fun, informal environment.
