UO Craft Center Come find us on the ground floor of the Erb Memorial Union in the center of campus. Please visit our website for more information about classes.

The Craft Center is a multi-studio recreational and educational craft facility, prioritized for UO students and also available to the Eugene-Springfield community. The Craft Center offers a comprehensive arts program open to UO students, faculty and staff, as well as Eugene-Springfield community members. The Center is both educational and recreational, encouraging all levels of interest, from beginning hobbyist to serious artist. With well-equipped studios and extensive workshops in most areas of the visual arts, the Center augments and compliments the educational opportunities available at the University of Oregon. We provide studio space and tools in seven areas: Fiber, Wood, Ceramics, Printmaking, Jewelry, Photography, and Glassblowing. Every term, the Craft Center also offers a series of classes that students, staff, alumni, and general public can take. The Craft Center is funded in part by University of Oregon student fees and the generous donations of current and past Craft Center users. We thank you for your continued support.

Upcoming workshops starting Week Three (10/11-10/17)! Reminder that registration closes 24-hours before a workshop begins. Don’t miss out on these great opportunities to learn something new! Tag your crafty friend who might be interested!

Beadmaking meets Mondays from October 12 to November 2 from 6pm-9pm. $165 for UO students, $185 for non-students. Learn to make your own colorful glass beads using soft glass flameworking techniques, including dots, stringers, encasement, and shaping. No experience necessary, and introductory materials are included! Complete the workshop and you’ll also be able to return to the Glass Studio during Open Studio hours to keep making beads.

Hand-Sewn Leather Cuff meets Tuesdays from October 13 to October 20 from 2pm-5pm. $70 for UO students, $90 for non-students. Learn the basics of leatherworking while making two custom leather cuffs. You’ll explore sewn and no-sew techniques, including cutting leather, adding rivets and snaps, and hand-sewing with leather needles and thread. No experience necessary, and introductory materials are included!

Wooden Mallet meets Wednesdays from October 14 to October 21 from 3pm-6pm. $70 for UO students, $90 for non-students. Learn the fundamentals of woodworking while crafting your own functional wooden mallet from start to finish. Explore tool safety, wood selection, measuring, cutting, shaping, drilling, and assembly while gaining hands-on experience with common woodworking tools. No experience necessary, and introductory materials are included! Complete both sessions and you’ll also qualify for Open Studio access in the Woodworking Studio.

Silver Ring has two sessions this week: Wednesday, October 14 from 2pm-5pm and Thursday, October 15 from 6pm-9pm. $40 for UO students, $65 for non-students. Learn the basics of soldering, shaping, and sizing while making your own custom-sized silver ring. This one-session workshop is a quick introduction to jewelry making, and materials for one silver ring are included.

The UO Craft Center is hitting the road to hang out with our friends at the OSU Craft Center!

Location: OSU Campus, outside the Student Experience Center

OSU students, come check out the UO Craft Center Mobile Craft Studio and print a special UO x OSU Craft Center collab tote bag or try your hand at our mini ceramic wheels.

Meanwhile, our OSU friends will be hosting a pottery throw-down to support the Empty Bowls Fundraiser!

Orientation Registration Reminder: 10/5 @ 10AM An orientation is required to access Open Studio. During Open Studio, participants work on their own projects without formal instruction, while studio monitors are present to ensure safety, provide access to tools, and answer basic questions. Users are expected to have the required orientation and prior experience for the studio. Open Studio time is ideal for continuing projects, practicing skills, or exploring materials in a shared, supported studio environment.

Step 1: Check Your Experience

Before using a studio, assess your experience with the medium. Some studios require basic skills for safety and productivity. Visit each studio page for specific requirements.

Step 2: Attend an Orientation

All studios require an orientation covering policies, safety, and equipment use. Spring Term Studio Orientations open for registration on April 6th at 10AM.

Step 3: Register for an Orientation

Visit myemu.uoregon.edu and log in (UO students/staff use UO ID; non-students use a personal email).

Navigate to the Orientation page.

Select a session and complete the registration form. (Sign the safety waiver under "Safety Waiver" if you haven’t this academic year. For directions on how to sign the safety waiver, visit our FAQ page.)

Add the orientation to your cart and complete checkout (orientations are free). You’ll receive a confirmation email.

Step 4: Studio Access

After orientation, you’ll have access to the studios you trained in.

Non-students: Must purchase a Day Pass or Term Pass (4-hour limit per studio/day).

UO students: No pass required.

Once in the studio, follow studio policies, maintain clean workspaces, and check for end-of-term updates. And don’t forget to check Open Studio hours by visiting the studio page.

If an orientation is full, please add yourself to the waitlist. If a space becomes available, the Craft Center will reach out to see if you are still interested in registering. We will not be offering any other orientations this term. Check back near the end of spring for summer orientation dates.

Make something this fall 🍂 Upcoming workshops starting Week Two (10/5-10/9) 🍄Reminder that registration closes 24-hours before a workshop begins. Don’t miss out on these great opportunities to learn something new! Tag your crafty friend who might be interested!

Vortex Marbles meets Monday, October 5 from 6pm-9pm. $75 for UO students, $95 for non-students. Learn the art of lampworking and use a torch to melt, shape, and add color to borosilicate glass as you create your own swirling glass marble!

Stamped Copper Pendant meets Tuesday, October 6 from 2pm-5pm. $65 for UO students, $80 for non-students. Create three beautiful copper pendants while learning the basics of cutting, shaping, texturing, polishing, and hand stamping in this beginner-friendly jewelry workshop!

Beginning Screen Printing meets Wednesdays starting October 7 through October 28 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. $170 for UO students, $185 for non-students. Dive into screen printing and learn to create stencils, register multi-color prints, and expose photosensitive screens in this hands-on, four-session workshop! Complete the workshop and you’ll also be able to return to the studio during Open Studio hours to keep printing.

Beginning Photography meets Mondays from October 5 to October 26 from 3:30pm-6:30pm. $165 for UO students, $180 for non-students. Step back into traditional black-and-white photography and learn to shoot, develop film, make contact prints, and print your own photographs in the darkroom. Bring your own 35mm camera, and we’ll provide the rest! Complete the workshop and you’ll also be able to return to the studio during Open Studio hours to keep developing and printing.

Forged Leaf Keychain meets Thursday, October 8 from 2pm-5pm. $40 for UO students, $55 for non-students. Learn the basics of blacksmithing as you forge, taper, twist, bend, and scroll hot steel into your own unique leaf keychain!

Creative Drawing for Beginners meets Thursdays starting October 8 through October 29. $145 for UO students, $165 for non-students. Explore drawing through creative prompts, hands-on projects, and new techniques while developing your own style and bringing an original idea from sketchbook t
