Marigold Cooking Collective is a nonprofit in Eugene, Oregon with the mission to build resilient community through the sharing of skills, stories and food.

Big changes are happening here at Marigold. Our new executive director resigned and we found ourselves wondering, can we keep this thing going?? After taking a pause, we realized that we think we can.

Marigold is on pause at the moment. @vanessalsas will be stepping in to continue to teach cooking classes and do some catering. Our board of directors is applying for infrastructure grants so that we can have enough money in the bank to offer a new Executive Director a competitive and stable income.

We are going to keep pushing forward because we believe in that the Eugene community and beyond needs the programs that we’ve created. If you follow this account, you know what we’re about. Please be patient with us and if you have the resources, any donations to get us through this rough patch will help us build Marigold back up, resilient and stronger than ever ❤️💪🏼 04/04/2024

Dang! Chile Relleno with Vanessa! is such a rockstar and we had so much fun with everyone in class. Homemade tortilla chips, her tangy guac, salsa tatemada, refried beans and rice.

It's official, we're throwing a party!!

To celebrate all that Gracie has done to create Marigold and to welcome Carolina into the community, we are throwing a big, old fashioned latke party!

If you came to our latke party fundraiser party last year, you know you're in for a good time. And this is version 2.0! The event will take place at Party Bar on Sunday, December 10th from 3pm-6pm.

What to expect:
Delicious, crispy hot latkes fried by the teens in our job training program!
Donated appetizers from our favorite restaurants including Party, Yardy, Noisette and more!
A silent auction jam packed with food centric delights!
Hot spiked cider, wine and beer!
Friends! Community! Jubilation!

Let's end this year with a bash!

BIG NEWS!

It is with a very full heart and a whole lot of gratitude that I introduce you all to the new executive director of Marigold Cooking Collective, Carolina Jane Reid

When I first started Marigold, it was always my dream to build something sturdy and resilient enough to exist without me, I never imagined it would happen so quickly. I was offered an incredible opportunity to move to San Francisco (where I’m from, where my whole family is) to work for the nonprofit that inspired me to start Marigold - . The decision to leave Eugene was not made quickly or easily but with the support of my board of directors, community and family, I knew it was the right choice. I will remain on the Marigold Board of Directors and make regular trips up to Eugene to help with fundraisers and teach!

Carolina joins us from Washington, but has deep roots in Eugene. She brings her passion and dedication to food accessibility, community, freshly farmed ingredients, working with youth as well as a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling and a background in journalism to Marigold and we feel so lucky to have found her!

We hope you all will welcome Carolina with open arms and continue to join us in the expansive exploration of what Marigold is and how it can continue to grow to serve this community!

We are so excited to have in town to get people amped up on winter vegetables! Tonight’s class was a veritable vegetarian feast featuring smoked radicchio and wheat berry salad, braised leek bites filled with caramelized onions and shiitakes served over sour cream and a delectable shaved Brussels sprout salad with shaved fennel, apples, almonds and emulsified apple vinaigrette! Thanks for sharing your passion, joy, skill and knowledge ! It was such a treat to learn from you!

Marigold is founded by a Jewish person and we call for a ceasefire in Palestine NOW. We beg the American government to stop sending weapons and support to this genocide. We use this platform to cry out for peace. Stand with us. Use your voices, call your congress people and representatives, write to your local publications. Organize! Hold each other close.

Drum roll please!! The first ever Marigold Cookbook is available for presale! That's right! We made a cookbook!

We are so excited to share this collection of recipes and illustrations with you. All funds raised through the sale of this cookbook will go towards sustaining, supporting and expanding our programs!
This book is at the printing press now and will be ready by December 1st, just in time to make the perfect holiday gift for your food loving loved ones!

All of the recipes in this book were written by chefs in the Marigold community who have taught cooking classes virtually and/or in person. We are so grateful for their contributions and excited for you to enjoy their incredible recipes as much as we have.

All illustrations and lay out design were done by the very talented Kelley Wills, the brain behind Brain Flower Designs .

The book is being riso printed by our friends at Max’s Garage Press in Berkeley, California!

This book will be released each year as a part of our Food Folklore program. Our goal is to document, share, honor and celebrate culinary food traditions.

NOTE: If you live in Eugene, make sure to choose the pick up in person option. If you live elsewhere we will ship you your copy.

Wow. Last night led one of the most seamless, joyful and delicious classes we’ve ever had. The students were all so curious, kind and delightful, the volunteers were so helpful and lovely to work with and the food!!!!! I left feeling full to the brim, believing that this little nonprofit can have a massive impact on our community, that we’re doing something important and beautiful - bringing people together in the kitchen, to share culture, stories, time and laughter. Building community is what it’s all about.
