Hello DucksđđThe Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement is excited to announce that former Congressman Peter DeFazio will be joining us for Week 3 of our Pizza & Politics series. This session will focus on the importance of midterm elections and their impact on the presidency.
Students will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from Congressman DeFazio about his experiences in the U.S. House of Representatives and how midterm elections have shaped national politics. The event will also include a Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to engage directly and gain a deeper understanding of why participation in these elections is essential. REGISTER FOR EARTH DAY OF SERVICE đ!
Join us for the Holden Centerâs Earth Day of Service, and engage with local community organizations in the Eugene-Springfield area. Serve your community and gain some volunteering experience to start spring term!
WHAT TO EXPECT! âď¸
- During check-in, you will select which community partner you wish to work with.
- For the first hour, breakfast items and coffee will be available during our education session to reflect on the work we will be participating in and the value of volunteer work.
- Transportation will be provided!
- Then, you will visit your selected community partner and work with them for the next two hours.
- Following the visit, we will meet back in the Holden Center for a brief reflection.
TIME â°: April 18th (10am-1:30pm)

The Holden Center is hosting a small pop-up volunteering opportunity on Jan 31st to head to the Grassroots Garden, a cherished acre farm by Food for Lane County, from 12-2pm.
Thousands of volunteers nurture GrassRoots Garden, and itâs an ideal outdoor classroom with a full kitchen and compost site! Visitors learn to cultivate, harvest and prepare fresh produce, fostering community and healthy eating.
