Shout out to our communications intern, Emily Ferrence, who presented her research, "Using Machine Learning for Earthquake Catalog Construction in the Galápagos," at the University of Oregon's Earth Science Research Gala yesterday! In addition to supporting our communications team this past year, Emily has been working on an undergraduate research project with Emilie Hooft, a member of our Community Velocity Model (CVM) Working Group. Way to go Emily!

Yesterday we wrapped up Day 2 of At the Shallow Frontier: Faulting, Deformation, and Tsunamigenesis in Cascadia! The day featured additional oral presentations, a poster session, and a collaborative White Paper Writing Session. A key outcome of the workshop will be a community white paper identifying research priorities needed to better understand shallow rupture, deformation processes, and tsunami generation in Cascadia.

Thank you to all of the speakers, poster presenters, and participants who contributed to last week's workshops and helped advance discussions on Cascadia hazards.

Two back-to-back topical workshops this week in Eugene! Today we kicked off At the Shallow Frontier: Faulting, Deformation, and Tsunamigenesis in Cascadia, bringing together scientists and hazard experts to discuss deformation, earthquake and tsunami processes, and emerging research across the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Day 1 included engaging session presentations and poster lightning talks highlighting new observations, modeling efforts, and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding Cascadia hazards.
