Avant Assessment Helping you create a brighter future through the magic of language. At Avant, we believe we can change the world through language proficiency.

With expertise in linguistics, language assessment, technology and education as our foundation, Avant develops and delivers effective language assessment tools to support personalized learning and improved education outcomes for every learner. Avant Assessment was formed to improve communication between people of different nationalities by delivering innovative assessments and services that suppor

t language learning and teaching. Avant’s founder spent many years investigating crimes committed against western firms in Japan and against Japanese firms around the world, and found that the common thread was miscommunication between employees and management who did not speak their language. Determined to improve language learning because of this experience, he founded Avant in 2001 as part of a technology transfer spin-out from the University of Oregon. Since then, Avant has spent more than 10 years researching, developing, and delivering innovative, market-leading assessments and services for language learners, teachers and administrators. With a broad base of language experts around the world, Avant is known for having produced consistently high quality, cutting-edge assessments and test content in more than 40 languages. We believe that language is more important than ever in today’s diverse world and that effective assessment improves the learning of language. In today’s global economy and multi-cultural society, language skills are as valuable as math and science, and students who master second languages will be better positioned to succeed. In order to help students reach their potential, teachers and school districts must have an accurate, effective way to assess their language proficiency. That’s where we come in. We currently offer language tests in 40 languages, and counting - adding more each year. Avant’s STAMP assessment the world’s leading language proficiency test, giving schools, teachers, and students a true picture of whether the language skills students are learning will translate to the real world. With expertise in linguistics, language assessment, technology and education as our foundation, Avant develops and delivers effective language testing tools to support personalized learning and improved education outcomes for every learner. Avant Assessment was formed to improve communication between people of different nationalities and cultures, and bring people together in an increasingly diverse world. Today, we believe that is more important than ever.

Nine out of 10 employers rely on workers with language skills, yet the demand for bilingual employees continues to exceed the available supply.

A recent Idaho Education News article highlights how language proficiency credentials can help students make their skills visible. Through assessments such as Avant STAMP, students can qualify for the State Seal of Biliteracy. The article also features the Global Seal of Biliteracy and its three credential levels: Functional Fluency, Working Fluency, and Professional Fluency.

We’re proud to see Avant customers and Idaho language educators highlighted for helping students measure their progress, stay motivated, and earn credentials they can share with employers.

Avant Language is a member of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), part of the Access 4 Learning Community. SDPC helps schools and districts manage education technology vendors, protect student data, and simplify the privacy agreement process.

For districts that already use SDPC, Avant’s membership can make it easier to access privacy resources, review available agreement information, and complete the privacy steps needed to use Avant assessments and services.

It is one more way Avant works to be a trusted partner to schools and districts.

What is one thing EdTech partners can do to make privacy reviews easier for your team?

You paid for language proficiency data. Now use it.

Most programs test to confirm the Seal of Biliteracy. That's necessary. But the data you're collecting tells you what students can actually do, where instruction needs to shift, and how to prepare your next cohort for success. Most programs stop after certification.

Join us for a free webinar on how to turn proficiency data into planning.
