"Champions on the field. Heroes in the Community." The University of Oregon’s student-athletes are viewed as role models in the community.

We at the University of Oregon Athletic Department are very fortunate to have these young individuals not only participating in our 17 varsity teams but also volunteering their time to the community. Over the past week, O Heroes has been out in various communities, doing small things that make a big difference as part of our December Days event! Student-athletes have donated to local food banks, donated clothes to shelters, helped family decorate or bake, and packed lunches for people working essential jobs during the holiday season. These might be small acts, but we know that they have an impact! Thanks to members of our Baseball, Lacrosse, Soccer, and Track teams for sharing their experiences! And thank you to everyone doing the small things to help those around them!

December Days continues through December 24th! Share what small things you like to do in your community this month in the comments below!

Even though it's winter break, O Heroes and our student-athletes are still working with a giving mindset. December Days is an 11-day event where we're encouraging everyone to give back to the people around them! Today is technically Day 4 of December Days, but we think any day is a good day to bake something nice for a family member. A nice baked good is always appreciated!

Have you been baking for your friends and family? We'd love to hear about it!

"Everyone who went on this trip can agree: We signed up to build a court to impact and transform the people, the kids, and a community. But we definitely experienced the flip side of that, because we were transformed by the bonds we created among the Jamaicans. "
