2. ESTABLISHING INTERNSHIPS FOR YOUNG WOMEN
Girls must leave the orphanage when they turn 16. They are provided with a dorm and living and school expenses until they finish their diploma, but they are not given any support to find jobs once they have graduated. Without any familial and financial support, the young women are quite vulnerable, yet educated and motivated. Through this program, Kumari Project provides the young women with three-month internships at prestigious private and public organizations and supports their living expenses while they gain skills and experience. The Kumari Project will also provide workshops and personal feedback to improve job searching skills of all participants. Support for an intern ranges from $250-$550.

3. CREATING LIBRARIES
We have already established a library at Bal Mandir, and hope to replicate our efforts at the other ten orphanages, especially in rural areas that generally have fewer, if any, resources. Along with supplying children’s and young adult books in English, we will stock the libraries with books in Nepali as well as reference books, including test prep books needed for the SLC exam (which is necessary to enter college). To accompany the opening of each library, we will run a workshop in each orphanage to help the children create their own illustrated storybooks that will be displayed in the library with the other books.
