PAINT YOUR WAGON
Oct 2-11
7:30 PM Fridays & Saturdays, 3:00 PM Sundays
The Shedd Institute, Eugene, OR

Lerner and Loewe’s PAINT YOUR WAGON is an homage to the Old West: A hardened old California gold prospector, Ben Rumson, strikes it rich when his daughter, Jennifer finds gold and the love of a local miner, Julio. The town grows more populous and prosperous as news of the strike spreads, but Jennifer heads east to attend school. When she returns, Jennifer finds the town abandoned as its citizens head off to another gold strike, leaving Jennifer to reunite with her father and create a new life with Julio. A heartwarming story packed with great dancing, drama and a gorgeous score featuring "They Call the Wind Maria", “I Talk to the Trees", and "Wand’rin’ Star" and more!

Join us for Dinners At Six before evening performances and after matinées!

Thank you to our sponsors, McKenzie River Broadcasting, Bigfoot Beverages, Residence Inn, Oregon iLasik, The Eugene Hotel, Obie Companies, and The Eye Center for this production.

The Shedd Institute’s E. Y. Harburg Academy was established to provide a training opportunity for young performers, to further develop and hone existing skills in the core musical theatre disciplines of voice, acting, and dance. In The Vaudeville Hour!, over the course of 10 weeks, students will work under the guidance of professional coaches, production staff and guest artists from The Shedd and The Shedd’s Theatricals. The course culminates with its own vaudeville show, a concert featuring song, dance, clowning, acrobatics, comedy, and more!

The Music Box is a program designed for children kindergarten through elementary school. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to join in the fun! Students will be introduced to new instruments, songs, music styles, and more! The Music Box incorporates singing, piano skills, and basic theory into each class to promote the idea that music is not precious, but a thing to be enjoyed and shared by everyone. Students are encouraged to experiment and discover the instruments rather than to perform a skill, giving them a chance to explore and discover instead of just watching and listening. Students get to experience what the instruments feel and sound like for themselves, and they may even find “their instrument” in class!

When: The Music Box meets Wednesdays from 4-5pm each week. Students are welcome to enroll for the full term or drop-in and play!

Where: The Shedd Institute’s Community Music School is located in downtown Eugene at 868 High St

How: $10 drop-in or $96/12 weeks. Register for The Music Box by phone at 541-434-7000, by emailing [email protected], or in person at The Shedd Music School located at 868 High St in Eugene!
