Hello Meadow View families,

Unfortunately, this update is more of a non-update. Only one person has come forward as interested in helping and her schedule doesn't quite allow for her to take the President position. It would be best if the new board consisted of parents who have helped at our events and know what to expect, so they can be set up for success!

Ideally, having a full board allows for time to meet with Principal Hiatt over summer to plan next year's events and solidify our schedule. As of right now, we will build our schedule without Popcorn Fridays, Monster Mash, the Art Walk, and Spring Carnival, plus fewer fundraisers.

We are extremely sad that it has come to this, but the board simply cannot go on with a skeleton crew. Also, changing board members every few years is a healthy expectation to avoid burnout and provide opportunity to welcome new ideas and relationships! Even if there was a full board, the PTO still needs quite a few more regular, committed parents to sign up for committees and as event volunteers, as well as attending meetings.

If you are genuinely interested in applying for a position, please reach out to myself or Principal Hiatt @ [email protected]

Some of my favorite Meadow View memories and best friends were made through PTO, and I am incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to support our students. I hope to continue volunteering and supporting the next generation of PTO board members.

Thank you,
Katie Mayer

ETA: To address the questions about time commitment.

Board members are expected to attend/support all of our in-person functions and meetings in some capacity:

Monthly PTO meeting (1 hour)
Movie Night
Monster Mash
Cookie Dough Distribution
Art Walk
Jogathon
Spring Carnivall
(Some events that need a few people- Walk & Roll, Teacher Conference Dinner, Staff Appreciation Week, Popcorn Friday, sorting Spirit Gear)

Other tasks that occur (and may fall to board members if nobody else can help) include shopping for supplies, counting money after events, reaching out to local businesses, distributing fliers, and rallying volunteers!)

Some weeks require an hour or two of time, others require no time. What we need most is REGULAR and RELIABLE volunteers to head committees, attend meetings and participate in discussions, and lend a hand when possible. If we had more helpers all year, the board members would really feel much less burnt out. Plus our kiddos really love to see us helping their friends and teachers. 🥰

Happy Friday Wolf Pack!

Please read on for news regarding the future of PTO at Meadow View.

We held our last PTO meeting of the year on Wednesday this week, and unfortunately, only two people showed up to vote and zero people showed up to apply for the two open positions. That means as of right now, the President and VP positions will remain open until somebody expresses interest. (Or maybe you and a friend want to do it together?)

What does that mean going forward? With a school of nearly 700 students, it would be impossible for the remaining two members to put on large events and fundraisers at the scale we have become accustomed to. Monster Mash & Carnival would be canceled next year and major fundraisers scaled back. Currently the PTO gives every teacher $200 for supplies and that would need to reduced to $100 due to less funds coming in.

We would love to see a full PTO board as well as more parents coming to meetings and volunteering at our major events. It is hard work but SO REWARDING. Kids are always welcome to join you at meetings and during event setup (they have a blast together!) Your support helps things run smoothly and contributes to a beautiful sense of community and belonging for our kiddos. And on that note....

CARNIVAL! One week from today is our last major event of the year (and most fun imo)! We still have MANY open positions to fill, and if they aren't filled in time, we would likely have to leave out some games/activities as they cannot be left unattended. We welcome middle and high school students to run games, attend to lines at inflatables, and help at the snack shack. If you want to sign your kiddo up to help, write their name in the note. If you are volunteering together, change the drop down from 1 to 2 on the signup prompt. If you have any questions or need help signing up, please reply to this post and I will respond asap! Thank you all for your help! https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/51929248 Tickets are still available for advance purchase in the office.

Jog-a-Thon! Today is the last day to submit pledges through the online portal and cash/check envelopes are due. If you forgot your envelope, please turn it in Monday. Thanks!

We hope you have a wonderful 3-day weekend. Only 13 more days til SUMMER!!

Hey Wolves!

Yesterday's Jog-a-Thon was sooo much fun! Thank you to all who came to volunteer and cheer on our kiddos! An extra special shout-out goes to our amazing emcee, Victoria Sanne, for bringing the never-ending energy and fun to our finish line! The weather was perfect, and it worked well to combine some grades for a shorter day. The online donation portal will remain open through next week and you still have time to turn in envelopes with cash/checks. https://app.99pledges.com/fund/2025meadowview

Carnival pre-paid ticket forms are due TODAY. Pre-paid tickets will be sent home with students next week. If you missed this deadline, you can still buy tickets directly from the front office starting next week or pay at the event entrance on 5/30. Please take a look here to see if there is somewhere you can help with carnival: https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/51929248
