Native Youth Wellness Program The Native Youth Wellness program is based out of Lane ESD and centers Native (AI/AN/H) students' well-being.

We have learned through conversations with community members, educators, and families that COVID has left Lane County Natives feeling disconnected and without many cultural spaces and events. Through grant funding and the ability to hire our Native Youth Wellness Specialist, we help promote and fund materials and foods for the newly created community-hosted Culture Night. We also support the local Title VI programs, help provide funding, and provide rural outreach and supports to schools without Title programs. The focus of the Native Youth Wellness program is the importance of community, care, and connection and encouraging the youth to connect to their Native communities and culture.

Please join us next Tuesday, August 4, at 5:30 PM for a special Welcome Dinner & Craft Night at the LCC Longhouse.

This month, we’re honored to welcome World Champion Hoop Dancers Kailayne, Tyrese, and Lane Jensen for a special hoop dance demonstration, followed by a delicious catered dinner from Caddo Woman Catering.

This collaborative gathering is hosted by Native Youth Wellness, Springfield Public Library & Museum, UO Sapsik’wałá Education Program, LCC Longhouse, UO Many Nations Longhouse & Homeflight Program, and Comunidad y Herencia Cultural.

As this event is serving as our August Culture Night, if you’re able, please bring a craft to work on! We’ll also have some beading supplies available.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of culture, creativity, delicious food, and connection. We can’t wait to see you there! 🪶💚

The welcome dinner is leading up to the Indigenous Cultural Celebration on Wednesday at the Springfield Public Library Plaza!
