📢 We’re looking for engaged community members to join the Lane ESD Board of Directors!

Are you interested in shaping the future of public education in Lane County? The Lane Education Service District is currently seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on our Board of Directors.

Open Positions:

📍 Position 3: Representing the Springfield School District 19 area.

📍 Position 6 (At-Large): Representing the entire Lane Education Service District.

Who is eligible?

Eligible applicants must be registered voters and reside within the geographic boundaries of the position for which they are applying. Applicants for Position 6 (At-Large) must reside within the Lane Education Service District. (Lane ESD employees are not eligible to serve.)

How to apply:

Interested individuals are invited to submit a Board Director application and letter of interest. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026. Positions will remain open until filled.

Art Belongs Day was a huge success! 💛

At the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, our high school Life Skills students took center stage engaging in dance, music and visual art alongside partners like , Lane Arts Council and The Arc of Lane County.

The day ended with a powerful performance that celebrated student voice, creativity and belonging. This is the magic that can happen when a community comes together!

🔥Lane ESD launched a new regional Emergency Services pathway this September, open to juniors and seniors across all 16 Lane County school districts. In its first year, the program served more than 70 students.

As a core part of this CTE program, students gain hands-on, real-world experience with industry tools, equipment, and curriculum while working toward certifications in:
🚨Basic Firefighting
🚨Emergency Medical Responder
🚨Wildfire Response
🚨Hazmat

The program has been made possible through strong partnerships with local fire districts and community organizations, which have contributed equipment, training space, and volunteer support for the hands-on skill days. Most recently, a special thank you goes to the Row River Rural Fire Protection District for donating a 🚒fire engine🚒 — this impactful addition significantly expands students’ access to essential, hands-on training.

The Lane Education Service District Board of Directors has announced Dr. Tenneal Wetherell as its next Superintendent! Dr. Wetherell currently serves as Deputy Director of Operations at the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and brings more than 25 years of experience in education to Lane ESD. Dr. Wetherell will join Lane ESD on July 1, 2026. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Tenneal Wetherell to the team!
