This morning started early with a meet and greet! We offer anyone who stays in our air bnb a chance to learn about and meet Gypsy Cobs and Akhal-Tekes. MayDay and Kestrel were wonderful ambassadors for their respective breeds

This is a pretty fascinating video clip in my opinion. The bay mare (Eclipse) is four years old. She briefly met Jinx when she was one year old. They were friends at the time. Eclipse was homed elsewhere for the last three years but recently came back to us for some training. Jinx immediately recognized her. Jinx kept her c**t Oísín safe while they established boundaries. But it was very clear that these two would rekindle their friendship without much drama.

When Eclipse left the farm she was a gangly weanling. She looks nothing like she did when she left. Yet Jinx recognized her and knew she wasn’t a threat to her baby after three years. I assure you jinx would have behaved very differently if she did not recognize and like Eclipse. Jinx has no problem kicking ass when needed😂

Horses definitely have impressive memories. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Anyone else have a story highlighting the strength of equine memories???

Akhal-Teke stallion Caladesi has successfully fertilized his third egg of the year!

I am excited for this cross to this beautiful appendix mare named Xena (quarter horse x thoroughbred). The mare owner is looking to add action and refinement to her mare’s movement. But - not at the expense of temperament. She came out to meet Caladesi and watch him move before making a decision. But no one can resist Caladesi after meeting him.

If you have ever considered breeding one or more mares to our beautiful Akhal-Teke stallion Caladesi - now is the time!

Caladesi is going to be spending a few days at Equine Reproduction Concepts for semen freezing. I am happy to extend his stay there if someone would like a late season breeding to Caladesi via freshly collected and shipped semen.

Caladesi represents the Posman line. He is by Sephard Shael and out of Rosanna. Sephard Shael is a Russian imported stallion by Murgab - a renowned and decorated Russian stallion.

Caladesi is a beautiful sooty buckskin. He stands at 15’2”. He has incredible movement and a calm and inquisitive nature. He is thick and strong providing an opportunity for someone to bring bone, shine, excellent temperament and movement to any breeding program.

This may be a last chance to breed to Caladesi with fresh semen. To make it easier for him to be competed on by amateurs we plan on gelding him in the next year. He is too wonderful a horse to keep at home!

HDF Crystalline Dream is a three year old Akhal-Teke x Quarter Horse mare and is Autumn’s next project to get under saddle.

I love how the mare is listening to Autumn’s verbal cues on the line which will help her know what to do once under saddle.

We don’t use the lunge line to run a horse tirelessly in circles. That is pretty dumb and a great way to teach a horse to hate being lunged. Instead the line is part of our training to help them learn verbal cues to walk, trot, canter and stop. Later these cues will be used in the saddle with seat and leg aids and finally the verbal cues eliminated.

Autumn and I schooled Midnight and Dancer up at Graves Mountain today. They overcame barking dogs at the lodge, rocky trails and a stream crossing. Both ponies were great and covered 7.5 miles.

Midnight is a registered Gypsy Cob and somehow still is available!
