Parents of students in grades 2-12:
I am reaching out regarding Prairie Readers. Prairie Readers in a reading competition that takes place in Armour. Participants are required to read certain books and then will work as a team to answer comprehension questions such as "In which book did a character vacation in Hawaii?". They will respond by naming the book title and the last name of the book's author. They will compete against their grade level (example: 2nd grade students from Ethan will compete against 2nd grade students from participating schools).
This year, we have been fortunate to receive the book list early. The current book list will be attached to this message.
Sign-ups will be a little different this year. In order to get a better idea of who plans to participate in the 2027 competition, I am going to wait to send out the link with the sign-up form until the beginning of December. Because of busy schedules, this will allow students time to decide whether theyβd like to see it through and participate. If your child is interested, they are more than welcome to start reading as soon as possible. Students will be welcome to check out books from my classroom and/or the library once the school year begins.
Because many books on this yearβs list are new to us, I have put together a Thriftbooks wishlist if you are interested in purchasing books for this yearβs competition.
