We're a full-service not-for-profit educational reform organization that operates a year round residential high school in Estes Park, Colorado, and offers professional development services at schools and community sites around the United States. in short, we're committed to making high school a more engaging experience for our youth.

As we’re settling into , we’re incredibly proud of the students we’ve seen succeed and grow in every trimester, and we decided to take a walk down memory lane, back to when Eagle Rock turned from a vision into a blueprint.

In 1989, when American Honda Motor Company set out to further its commitment of contributing to society in an area unrelated to its daily business, the vision of Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center was born.

What followed was the founding of the American Honda Education Corporation in 1991 and hiring our Head of School. Our first students, the champions and designers of what Eagle Rock would become, started their Eagle Rock journey in 1993.

Mientras nos asentamos en , nos sentimos increíblemente orgullosos de los estudiantes que hemos visto triunfar y crecer trimestre tras trimestre; por ello, hemos decidido hacer un recorrido por el pasado, remontándonos a cuando Eagle Rock pasó de ser una visión a convertirse en un proyecto concreto.

En 1989, cuando American Honda Motor Company se propuso reforzar su compromiso de contribuir a la sociedad en un ámbito ajeno a su actividad comercial habitual, nació la visión de Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center.

A esto le siguieron la fundación de la American Honda Education Corporation en 1991 y la contratación de nuestro director. Nuestros primeros estudiantes —los impulsores y artífices de lo que llegaría a ser Eagle Rock— iniciaron su trayectoria en la escuela en 1993.

What do Eagle Rock and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have in common?

MIT wants to rebuild its curriculum around four things AI can't replace: oral exams, semester portfolios, in-person projects and a required social component in every subject. ✏️

Sound familiar? Eagle Rock has been doing all of these since 1993.

Our learner-centered ecosystem is built on authentic, real-life practices that quickly show what you know, not what AI can replace. We look at the overall big picture of education, where integrity and community-building are worth just as much as, if not more than, completion of an assignment ❗

Topping off our Cohort 5 schools, the Changemaker Cohort has partnered with Malcolm Shabazz City High School of the Madison Metropolitan School District in Wisconsin. 📖

As they kick off the school year, Malcolm Shabazz City High has big plans. By January of next year, 80% of staff and students will demonstrate authentic engagement in the Shabazz school community.

We’re so excited to be working toward this goal alongside them. Through measurable changes and genuine community building, we can’t wait to watch this school continue to thrive as one, giving everyone a sense of belonging at Malcolm Shabazz. 💜

Para completar las escuelas de nuestra quinta cohorte, la *Changemaker Cohort* se ha asociado con la Malcolm Shabazz City High School, perteneciente al Distrito Escolar Metropolitano de Madison, en Wisconsin. 📖

The Welte Big Picture High School in Colorado takes pride in their family unit they’ve created amongst students and faculty. 🐺

That’s why, when they joined the Changemaker Cohort, they knew they could dream big and create a goal that could reach a great majority of students, 85% worth, to be actively engaged in Big Picture Learning at school.

As Welte Big Picture continues to build this Big Picture dynamic at their school, the Changemaker Cohort will only amplify their mission and make sure that every student feels supported; both academically and emotionally.

La escuela Welte Big Picture en Colorado se enorgullece de la unidad familiar que ha creado entre estudiantes y docentes. 🐺

Por eso, al unirse a la iniciativa del Changemaker Cohort, sabían que podían aspirar a lo grande y fijarse una meta ambiciosa: lograr que una gran mayoría de los alumnos —el 85%— participara activamente en el modelo de aprendizaje integral, Big Picture Learning, de la escuela.

At Mapleton Public Schools, Adams County School District 1, their core values revolve around creating a positive, inclusive environment while focusing on work ethic and accountability — the perfect combination to facilitate successful students.

So when Mapleton joined the Changemaker Cohort this year, their goal of having 85% of MEC Prep students be engaged in student leadership came as no surprise.

Together, the Changemaker Cohort and Mapleton are striving for this goal, creating an environment where students feel empowered to become the change themselves. 🌟

En Mapleton Early College, los valores fundamentales giran en torno a crear un entorno positivo e inclusivo, al tiempo que se fomenta la ética de trabajo y la responsabilidad: la combinación perfecta para formar estudiantes exitosos.

Por ello, cuando Mapleton se unió este año a la *Changemaker Cohort* (Cohorte de Agentes de Cambio), no resultó sorprendente su objetivo de lograr que el 85 % de los estudiantes de MEC Prep participaran en iniciativas de liderazgo estudiantil.

Within the Changemaker Cohort, we’re always looking one step ahead to see how we can assist more students and schools across the nation. 🤝

So when Quincy Innovation Academy joined our Cohort number 5 with the hopes of garnering 30 more students’ interest by January of 2027, we gladly jumped right in.

Through the Eagle Rock Professional Development Center, we’re working on increasing Quincy’s visibility, breadth, and strategic messaging tools so that more students join their individualized curriculum.

We’re excited to see this partnership grow and Quincy Innovation Academy’s student body soar! 🚀

At Eagle Rock, our students are constantly learning through an abundance of ways, whether it be Real World Learning, in our classrooms, or out in the wilderness.

But even with our competency-based approach, we’re always reflecting and evolving our framework. We listen to student feedback, learn from other school systems, and continue adapting as we learn from one another. 🎯

Because as our students shape their future goals of graduating, we intend to show them the clearest path to get there, with confidence. 🎓
