Sharing an update from my Studio page!

UPDATE: Due to a conflict I was made aware of, there will be ONE music class for PreK4-5th grade on Tuesdays. NEW TIME: 11:00-11:45 am at Estes Park Jazzercise.

I have over a decade of experience teaching a mixed age worship music time for my church to ages 3-11 successfully engaging all students no matter their age and ability!

I am now enrolling students for my homeschooled music classes, Music with Melinda!

Ages 4-2nd Grade: Tuesdays 1:30-2:15pm starting Sept. 1
3rd-5th Grade (older students welcome): Tuesdays 2:20-3:05 starting Sept. 1

Located at the Estes Park Jazzercise Studio, 600 S Saint Vrain Ave. Unit 1

$100/class per family (2nd class is 20% off) Age cutoffs are not super strict, if a family needs a 2nd grader in the older class or a 3rd grader in the younger class to better meet family needs, I am open to that.

Look for my article and ad in the EP News in the coming weeks! But if you are ready to sign up now, here's the link to the Google Form Sign Up: https://forms.gle/qkL15wD9rcshtLR58

We are collecting Composer Cards this year! About 2 a month to complete the set that I have to give out. Our first composer is Amy Beach, whose birthday is today. She is one of my favorite composers, all her pieces are rich and full, dripping with emotion and feeling. Her Gaelic Symphony is one of my favorites, but go on Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube and let me know what piece YOU love!

The first American woman to have a symphony published, this trailblazing composer was born on this day 157 years ago. Happy birthday, Amy Beach. ❤️

It's recital time again! Our End of Year recital this year is titled "Made by Me" which is, you got it, original compositions! Every student wrote their own piece to perform. 5:30pm at Shepherd of the Mountain Lutheran Church (with a potluck dinner to follow). Live Stream will be available via YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnT4QOr1Go5vBhtCrHpHdlQ

Merry Christmas from my studio to you! We created a Christmas Album this year in lieu of a recital. We are honoring our late friend and fellow piano/music teacher, Jenna Olschlager Williams who always combined her studio with mine for recitals, by dedicating the album to her. We pulled her Christmas performance from 2020 to open this album. You can listen 2 ways, visit my website album page and hit play to listen online. https://www.mdeworkman.me/christmas-2021 OR you can download the tracks from this page, but if you do, please consider downloading all the songs and put them in a playlist instead of just the ones of the kids you know. https://www.mdeworkman.me/christmas-album-2021-downloads

NOTE: This is a LIVING album; my track, my older daughter's track, and potentially Jenna's students will be adding tracks over the next while as they are able to during this trying time when the grief is still very tender.

I hands down teach the best young people in my community, and am grateful for that every single day!

I just love my colleague Connie Greenwood! She is a master music educator of young children. Child centered beat motion activities as simple as this develop beat awareness at a very young age which helps with literacy skills and builds connections that also help with reading fluency. Plus the little sly smile when this little one realizes they are controlling the rhyme? PRICELESS!

It's recital week! We're going a little non-traditional again this time and hosting our recital in my backyard in 3 separate "mini" recitals featuring different students performing each night. Our theme: Favorite Things, invited students to perform their favorite piece of the semester while wearing their favorite outfit (or casual attire). All performances will be live streamed on my YouTube channel via the following links and will be available for later viewing. For students unable to perform this week, they will be recorded, and all performances compiled into a single YouTube video over the coming weeks.
