Estacada Fire just responded to a 1/4 acre brush fire near the 33000 block of Regan Hill Rd. Units arrived and took quick action to prevent the spread to a neighboring property. Estacada responded with 2 Chief Officers, 2 engines and a water tender. We were joined by Oregon Department of Forestry. 12 Estacada Firefighters in total were on scene for suppression and units are clearing now. This fire started from a w**d eater with a metal blade which hit a rock and created a spark. There is no further investigation and the scene remains with ODF.

There has been a lot of concern on local Facebook groups regarding the notifications on the Watch Duty App regarding the Narrows, Mitchell and Austin Fires in the Mt. Hood National Forest area. Watch Duty is a third-party application found on your favorite app store. Watch duty is not affiliated with any fire agency in the Clackamas County area. They gather information from their staff that listen to radio traffic on large fires, information from locals near the fire location and from the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). All wildland fires are reported to NIFC through land management agencies (Oregon Department of Forestry being one of those agencies). Information on this app can be delayed for several hours or days. The app tries to stay as current as possible with evacuation notices to help provide that information to communities. Evacuations are ordered through CCSO and are communicated in multiple methods to ensure the community is aware.
The PublicAlerts Notification System is a reverse 911 system used as one of those ways of communication. Numbers must be registered to this system. You can register at Everbridge Community and click the Registration Link.
It is important to stay Fire Wise this time of year. The best way to stay up to date on any evacuation notices is to register for the Public Alerts Notification System. The Estacada Fire page is not an official notification system and is not actively monitored.
While fires in the area can be a concern, overwhelming 911 dispatchers asking if evacuation is needed can distract them from handling active emergency calls. If evacuation is required, refer to the map for the best way to navigate during an event.
The best way to protect your home during a wildfire event is having defensible space. To learn more about Defensible Space around your home, contact your local fire district or the ODF office in Molalla.
Estacada Fire District and local mutual aid partners are prepared to respond to emergencies within the community when they arise.
