In 1988, the Mr. & Mrs. L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship was created to provide help local students. The Mr. & Mrs. Dexter Woodman Scholarship was founded in 1988.

They never expected it would award over $896,000 to over 186 students/organizations across the North Shore of Massachusetts. Thanks to the continued support of the Essex, Massachusetts community, many local businesses, and restaurants.

34 years later, we have grown so much and wanted to expand our mission beyond just scholarships. To allow this, we had to reorganize to accommodate these changes a

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Lemcke, who lost his battle with kidney disease on November 15, 2024. Norm was long time board member and past president of the L. Dexter Woodman Family Foundation, who was instrumental in helping us change our organization from a Scholarship to a Foundation, enabling us to expand our giving. Norm's vivacious personality will be deeply missed by so many. To anyone who may be inclined to donate in Norman's memory, please visit https://ldexterwoodmanfamilyfoundation.org/.

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, we had our annual fundraiser at https://www.decklyns.com/. It was a beautiful night to dine outside on the deck, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding, between the 50/50 raffle and the donation from Decklyn's we raised over $2,700 for the fund! Congratulations to Jeff Sandler for winning the raffle and thank you for donating a portion of the winnings back to the fund. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Pat Shea and his staff for always welcoming us with open arms and the continued support of the Foundation!
