Parent Input Needed!

As you may know, our principal, Ms. Szymanksi, will be leaving Sussex at the end of the school year. BCPS is holding a virtual meeting TONIGHT at 7 p.m. to gather parent input on characteristics families would like to see in our next principal. This is an opportunity for families to share their thoughts for the future leadership at Sussex.

Last night, we decorated and provided refreshments for the 5th Grade Farewell! This was the first year the event was held at Chesapeake High School, making it an extra special evening.

A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers and staff for helping pull off this incredible event and celebrate this special milestone. We want to give a special shout-out to Rachel Coffman and family, Breanna McCarty, and Shannon Hood. Thank you for all of your hard work yesterday!

We are very proud of every student that crossed the stage. Good luck in middle school!

Today, the Sussex PTA surprised our amazing 5th graders with a Glow Party celebration. From music and fun to lots of smiles and memories, we loved celebrating this special group as they get ready for their next chapter.

We can’t wait to see everyone tonight at the 5th Grade Farewell!

What a great Field Day at Sussex Elementary!

The PTA had an amazing time helping make the day extra special for our students. At our PTA station, students enjoyed popsicles, water, chalk, bubbles and music while taking a break from all the fun activities!

We snapped photos of students proudly wearing their Field Day shirts, sponsored by local businesses. We are so thankful for the support of our sponsors: Colgate Recreation Council , The Essex Diner , The Comfy Cup , American Scale and Equipment Co. , Shumaker's Baltimore Animal Control , Rose Marie's Salon, superrad graphics , and Sunshine Catering!
To wrap up an exciting day, six staff members participated in a fun pie eating contest during an all-school assembly, with students and staff cheering them on! A huge thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, and families who helped make Field Day such a success.

Thank you everyone for the water donations! Reminder: there is no school tomorrow for students. We will see all students on Friday for Field Day!
