The LONG ISLAND SOUND, one of the most popular bands on the shoreline is celebrating its 50th season this summer with two concerts. The first, on the Ivoryton town green on Tuesday July 11 from 6:30-8:30 PM and the second on the Old Saybrook town green on Wednesday August 16, from 6:30-8:00 PM.
Formed in 1973 by Ivoryton drummer and vocalist Gary "Coach" Ribchinsky, this versatile band has entertained audiences at weddings, social events, and clubs throughout New England for the past half-century.
Audiences are treated to a wide variety of the most popular music including Swing, Motown, Oldies Rock, Funk, Disco, Latin, Country and Top 40. The Long Island Sound features, a full rhythm section, horns, and recording artist and lead vocalist Mary Beth Sippin. Band members include,
