Thank you Esko community for supporting the referendum and levy all those years ago that created this space! So many amazing memories, and so many good opportunities for our student athletes over the years!

A friend of Esko Pride shared a memory from 7 years ago today, when we were one week away from our first competition on the new field. This updated view shows the new paved parking lot installed after the bus garage was removed and relocated to the Esko Industrial Park. Congratulations to the Esko Senior Babe Ruth Baseball team for winning the district championship! After a spring with no high school baseball, followed by the cancellation of American Legion baseball, it was great to see the team have an opportunity to play.
Thanks to the coaches for their leadership throughout to keep this a safe season. And congrats to the team for playing some outstanding baseball!

Amid growing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the remainder of the girls state basketball tournament and boys section/state basketball tournaments have been canceled. The safety of all concerned is paramount.

Congratulations Coach Johnson!

Former Esko head boys basketball coach Rod Johnson has been selected to the Polar League Hall of Fame!

Rod coached boys basketball from 1979-1994 and from 1996-1998. During this time he won 8 Polar Conference Championships and competed in 6 section championship games. Rod was instrumental in the revival of the Midway River Classic basketball holiday tournament, known today as the Coaches Classic, which this year celebrated its 40th consecutive year!

Rod is both knowledgeable and dedicated, having established Esko’s youth basketball program early in his coaching career. Rod was and still is one of those people who would help out in any way he could. He is a class act as evidenced by his ability to work with coaches and players throughout the state and in particular the Polar League.

After coaching Rod continues to support and assist the community and region as our public address announcer for football games. Rod and his wife Pat (who spots) have been doing it for over 30 years and still enjoy being a part of Friday night lights!

Rod is a tremendous supporter of the Polar League Conference, with both his comments and actions. For those of us who know Rod, we'd be remiss not to mention his connection to Chisholm coach Bob McDonald. Rod played for Bob and both men taught kids far more than basketball.

His focus has always been on the kids and what was best for Esko, the Polar League, and Region 7A.

Rod will be inducted into the Polar League Hall of Fame on Sunday April 19, 2020, at the Polar League Annual meeting. If you'd like to attend please contact the athletic office to RSVP. The social starts at 3:30 and the program at 4:00 with dinner to follow.
