🎥 New Teacher Alert! 🎥

10X is excited to offer classes through the Kids Broadcasting Academy!

🎤 Broadcasting classes are taught by Andrew Luria, a news anchor with more than 20 years experience in TV news. He has been a part of more than 14,000 newscasts and has won ten Emmy Awards. He is also a father of three kids (13, 11 & 8), a children’s book author and has led his broadcasting class to multiple awards as well as selections in major international film festivals.

📺 Kathleen Parra co-teaches alongside Andrew Luria, bringing her expertise to classes in broadcasting, creative writing, and sports math lab. She is an Emmy Award-winning, two-time nominee Automated Newscast Director with over four years of experience in the industry, as well as an associate faculty instructor in Media Design at MiraCosta College. Her real-world experience helps guide the next generation of creators and storytellers. 

Here’s a little bit of what they’re offering:

🎥 Kids Broadcasting Academy 🎥
Tell stories that matter! In this class, taught by Emmy-Award winning news pros, students step into the roles of reporter, filmmaker, editor, producer, and anchor. They will create news broadcasts, features, interviews, and short films. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, teamwork, and pro-level production skills, and get the chance to compete in San Diego’s county-wide media contest.

📝 Creative Writing 📝
This class turns imagination into stories that students will be proud to share. With fun challenges, activities, and exercises, they will sharpen their voice, build memorable characters, and learn the nuts and bolts of storytelling. They will also have opportunities to publish, enter national contests, and even create their own books!

⚽️ Sports Math Lab ⚽️
In this class, students discover the side of math that school rarely shows: how it powers sports, business, investing, and everyday decisions. Using real stats and friendly competition, they explore probability, data, and financial thinking in ways that feel useful and genuinely fun!

Mrs. Jessica did a great job teaching students the basics of sketching and character design tonight! The kiddos had a BLAST.

She’ll be bringing her years of expertise at Disney, Pixar, and Porsche to her classroom, inspiring young minds to create and dream. 🎨 🖼️

Her “intro to cartoon character design” is Tuesdays from 1-2pm and “watercolor nature journals is Wednesday from 1-2pm.

We’re excited to see what her students create this year!

Next Saturday, kick off the homeschool year with a day of fun for the whole family.

We’re so excited for our 10X Learning Center students that joined the incredible summer STEM camps through CSUSM’s Center for Research and Engagement in STEM Education (CRESE)!

From building rovers and coding with Arduinos to tackling hands-on engineering challenges and exploring innovative maker spaces, these experiences spark creativity, curiosity, and confidence in STEM. 👾

We’re incredibly grateful to CRESE and their partners for investing in our students. We can’t wait to see all they’ll learn and create this summer! 🚀🔬💡

🎭 New Teacher Alert at 10X! ⚽️

We’re excited to add Amy West to our team. She’ll be offering PE, enrichment for elementary students, and drama/performing arts courses.

Here’s a little about Amy and what she’ll be offering this Fall:

“I have been teaching and working with kids since 2017. I have a passion for teaching and creating safe places where children can grow beyond where they thought possible.

I studied Early Childhood Education, which further grew my love for making learning fun and finding new ways to promote engagement. I am an experienced school teacher, coach, choreographer, and art/dance instructor.”

Classes offered:

🏀 Adventure PE ⚽️
Enjoy fun-filled team sports and active games that build coordination, agility, confidence, and awaken creativity. This V.A.P.A./P.E, class combines themed sport challenges and imaginative play.

🎭 Stories Come to Life 📚
Book Club meets Drama! We’ll read stories together then bring your favorite characters to life through creative writing and dramatic play.

✏️ Math tutoring 📘

🐢 Undersea Explorers 🐋
Dive into an underwater world of discovery and creativity! In this awesome class, students will explore a new marine animal each week-like sharks, jellyfish, sea turtles, and more. We’ll learn amazing facts about how these creatures live, eat, and why they’re important to our ocean.

Then, we’ll bring science to life through art! Students will create colorful pages inspired by what they’ve learned. Each week adds a new entry to their very own marine life book, a one-of-a-kind keepsake by the end of the session.
