🗣️ Don’t believe the RUMORS! Know the TRUTH about VOTING! Take a moment to read and PLEASE share this important VOTING information!!!

🗳️ KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE YOU VOTE

Misinformation circulating online claims that a poll worker writing on your ballot makes it invalid. That claim can cause confusion about Mississippi’s voting procedures.

In Mississippi, the designated poll manager is required to initial the back of your paper ballot before giving it to you. These required initials do not invalidate your ballot. They help verify that it is an official ballot issued at the polling place.

The accompanying graphic from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office is being shared to clarify this requirement and help voters receive accurate information.

If you have questions about your ballot or the voting process, ask an election official. Before sharing election information online, verify it with your local election officials (contact information below) or the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office @ 601-359-1358.

SANDBAG AVAILABILITY INFORMATION
Wednesday, October 7, 2026

Sandbags will be available beginning today at approximately 1:30PM. at the locations listed below. Residents are asked to bring their own shovels to fill sandbags.

Preparedness is about taking sensible precautions before they’re needed. If you live in a flood-prone area or simply want to be ready, these locations are available to help you prepare.

The Jackson County Office of Emergency Services will continue to monitor forecast conditions and share additional information if conditions change.

STORM PREPARATION STARTS IN YOUR YARD

While conditions are safe, take time to pick up loose limbs and debris and bring in or secure outdoor items. Patio furniture, potted plants, toys, garden tools and decorations can become dangerous flying debris in strong winds. Remember to secure trash cans, too.

Clear leaves and debris from gutters and downspouts to help rainwater flow away from your home. Complete outdoor preparations before weather conditions deteriorate.

Storm conditions may affect trash pickup. Please stay tuned for official updates regarding collection schedules.

A little preparation now can help protect your home, your neighbors and your community.
