We welcomed our teachers and staff back as one big family, at the HCS Educator’s Summit! Our main focus was celebrating the awesome things our teachers and students accomplished last year. When we begin with the end in mind, we achieve. Highlighting the strides made last year, was so worthwhile, and aligns with three of our pillars for SY 2026-2027:

🔵 credentials in every pathway
🔵 have fun at work (gleaned from our June FISH! PD)
🔵 be there for each other (gleaned from our June FISH! PD)

Mr. Larry Clark and Ms. Kimberly Hackett were recognized at the NCACTE Awards Ceremony at the 2026 CTE Summer Conference.

Mr. Clark accepted the award for the Quality Divisions category and Ms. Hackett accepted the award for 2027 CTE Teacher of the Year Finalist.

Amazing student speaker for the administrator’s session at CTE Summer Conference! Regionald is a CTE shining star and concentrator from our friends over in Edgecombe County Public Schools.

Regionald shared a statement that truly moved us, and perfectly explained what CTE does for students. “Before CTE classes, I approached school as what do I need to do to get a good grade in this class. Now, I approach school and classes by asking this question- what can I learn in this class that will allow me to help others in this world.”

Regionald, you make ALL CTE stakeholders proud. Continue making an impact and unleashing YOUR superpowers!

Today, Steven Hamby was presented a certificate of achievement for successful completion of the NCDPI CTE Administrative Internship- Level 1. Steven will begin the Level 2 internship this fall.

Congratulations to Mr. Hamby. We are proud of you! Steven is pictured with Mr. Bob Gantt, North Central Regional Coordinator, NCDPI CTE Regional Services.

Happy 250th, America!

We hope all of our CTE students, staff, teachers, administrators, and partners have a safe and enjoyable July 4th.

Check out some flashy details behind fireworks from our friends at the NC Dept of Environmental Quality. It’s the science behind the sparkle, and it just might ignite your interest in geology!

There are minerals in those flashes, sparkles, and bangs! All the brilliant colors are due to minerals like copper, strontium, barium, sodium, titanium, and magnesium. And those loud booms that make us cover our ears? Magnetite, hematite, charcoal, and aluminum powder at work!

We hope that you have a safe and fun July 4 weekend!

We are proud of our fire tech students from Harnett Central! Their teacher, Chief Denton, their academy coordinator, Sara Byrd, and the local fire departments/ chief’s association all work tirelessly to ensure they get opportunities in the fire service. Our students are strong, because our partnerships are strong.

Let’s give these student leaders the recognition they deserve for completing the NC High School Firefighter Challenge.

HCHS FFA enjoyed the FFA State Convention. Leaders from the chapter, along with advisors Mr. Nelson and Mr. Milliron attended sessions, workshops, socials, and networked. We are proud of our Trojan student leaders.
